R emoving the back c over Mak e sure that your device is turned off be fore you r emove the back cover or bat tery . 1. Hold the device secur ely . 2. Pull the device’s fr ont panel from the gap on the top panel. 3. Care fully remov e the back cover .
R eplacing the micr oSD card Foll ow these steps if you need to r eplace the pre-inst alled microSD car d. 1. Remo ve the back cover . 2. Press the micr oSD card t o eject it from the slot. 3. Insert the replac ement microSD car d into the slot with its gold c ontacts facing down.
Char ging the battery Charge the bat tery befor e you start using your device. 1. Connect the device t o the AC adapter using the USB sync cable. 2. Plug in the AC adapt er to an electrical outlet to st art charging. Note: Use onl y the provided A C adapter and USB sync cable t o charge the device.
Fir st things first The first time you turn on y our HTC Aria, you will be dir ected to select the language, connect t o Wi-Fi (if availabl e), set up your email and social network account s, and more. Foll ow screen instructions until you see the Home screen.
About the Home scr een The Home screen is highl y customizable and e xtends bey ond the screen width, giving you lot s of room t o add the information that matt ers most to you with t ools or applications that make your life easier .
On any Home scr een, slide your finger horizontall y across the scr een to go to the le ft or right home screen. Y ou can also swipe your finger left or right over the optical tr ackball to move t o the next or previous scr een.
Customizing the Home scr een Y ou can add widgets, shortcuts, and f olders to the Home scr een. Y ou can also use Scenes to automaticall y populate your Home screens with r elated widgets that giv e you inf ormation as you go.
Using Scenes Y our phone becomes multiple phones in one when you use Sc enes. Scenes are per sonalized Home screen la youts that you can quickly appl y to your phone. By switching between Sc enes, you instantl y turn your phone into your perf ect week end phone, travel phone, work phone, or pure pla y phone.
Checking the device st atus Befor e you mak e a call, check the status bar to see if your devic e is r eceiving a wir eless signal. The status bar displa ys important icons that tell y ou the current status of your wir eless signal, connection type and signal str ength, remaining batt ery power , as well as any notifications.
Making a phone call 1. On the Home screen, t ap Phone to open the Phone screen. 2. On the Phone screen, t ap the desired phone number using the dial pad. Tip: If you ha ve contacts on y our device, matching c ontacts will appear as you enter phone numbers.
Adding a new cont act 1. Fr om the Home screen, tap > Peopl e . 2. T ap Add contact . 3. Select a Contact type t o determine which account the c ontact will sync with. 4. Do one of the following: • For Google, Ex change or Phone contact type, tap the Name field, ent er the contact name, and choose the or der in which to displa y the names.
L ogging into F acebook If you’ve chosen not t o set up your Fac ebook account the fir st time you turn on the device, follow these st eps to log in and instantl y share your update st atus with your online friends. 1. Fr om the Home screen, pr ess Menu and tap Set tings > Accounts & sync > Add account > F acebook f or HTC Sense .
Selecting the ringt one 1. Fr om the Home screen, pr ess Menu, and tap Set tings . 2. T ap Sound & display > Phone ringtone . 3. Select the ringtone y ou want to use, and tap OK . Changing your ringt one Set tin g a son g as ri ngt one Y ou can set a song that you saved in the stor age card as the phone ringtone.
Sending a te xt message 1. Fr om the Home screen, tap > Messages > New message . 2. Specify the message recipient s by: • Entering phone numbers dir ectly in the T o field. When sending to multiple recipient s, separate the phone numbers with a comma.
Capturing a phot o 1. Fr om the Home screen, tap > Camera. 2. Fr ame your subject on the screen, and then press the optical tr ackball to activat e auto focus and captur e the photo. All photos you capt ured are sa ved on the stor age card. Use Photos t o view, send, or upload your phot os.
R ecor ding a video 1. Fr om the Home screen, tap > Camcor der . 2. Fr ame your subject on the screen, and then press the optical tr ackball to start rec ording video. 3. Press the optical tr ackball again to stop rec ording. All videos you r ecorded ar e saved on the stor age card.
Br owsing the W eb Access the W eb on your device using A T&T as your defaul t home page.
