2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If an other cord is used, u se only a power source a nd connectio n appropr iate for th is monitor. For inform ation on th e correct po wer cord set to use with the monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Set Requirements on page 25 in Appendix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance and extend the life of th e monitor: ● Do not ope n the monit or cabine t or attemp t to se rvice thi s product yourse lf. Adjust only those controls that are covered in th e operating instru ctions.
Cleaning the Monitor 1. Turn off the m onitor and un plug the power cord from th e back of the unit. 2. Dust the monito r by wiping the scre en and the cabine t with a soft, clean ant istatic cloth. 3. For more difficult cleaning situations, use a 50/50 mix of wate r and Isopropyl al cohol.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turned off to the monito r, computer system, a nd other attached devices, then follow the instructions below. Installing the Monitor Base To install the monitor base: 1. Place the base on a smooth, flat surface.

Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well- ventilated location near the computer. 2. Connect the p ower cable to the AC power connector on th e back of the monitor. WARNING ! To reduce the risk of electric sh ock or damage to the equipment: Do not disable th e power cord groun ding plug.
CAUTION: Burn-in image damage may occur on monitors that display the same static image on screen for a prolonged period of time. To avoid burn-in image damage on your moni tor screen, you should always activate a screen saver application or turn off the monitor when it i s not in use for a prolonged period of time.

Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on the monitor pro vide the spare part number, produ ct number, and serial number . You may need th ese numbers when contac ting HP about th e monitor mod el. The rati ng labels are loca ted on the b ack of the monitor.
4 Operating the Monitor Installing the Driver You can install the monito r-driver INF and IC M file s from the CD (included with select model s) or download from the Internet. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM files on the computer from th e CD: 1.

Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor setti ngs can be adjusted from th e On-Screen Display (OSD) menu. T o access the OSD and adjust screen settings base on yo ur viewing preference , do the following : 1. If the monitor is not already on, press the power button to turn on the mo nitor.

Using the Auto-Adjustment Function You can optimize the screen pe rformance for the VGA (an alog) input by using the Auto /OK button on the monito r. This procedure can co rrect the following image q .
A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following table list s possible problems, the possible cause of each problem, and t he recommended solutions.
Problem Possible Cause Solution Missing one of the primary colors (Red, Green, or Blue). The video cable or video card is not properly connected. Inspect the monitor's vi deo cable a nd make sure that none of the pins are bent. Make sure the monitor's video cable is properly connected to the computer.
