2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is include d with the monitor. If ano ther cord is used, use only a power source and connection app ropriate for this monitor. For informat ion on th e correct power cord set to use with the monitor, refer to the Power Cord Set Requirements on page 24 in Appendix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance and extend the life o f the monitor: ● Do not open the mo nitor cabinet or attempt to se rvice this product yourself.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, ensure that the power is turn ed off to the monitor, co mputer system, and other attached de vices, then follow the instructi ons below. Installing the Monitor Base To install the monitor base : 1. Place the base on a smooth, flat surface.

Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monito r in a convenie nt, well-v entilated locatio n near the computer. 2. Connect the p ower cable to the AC power connector on the back of th e monitor. WARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock or dama ge to the equipme nt: Do not disable the po wer cord grounding plug.
CAUTION: Burn-in image damage may occur on monitors that display the same static image on screen for a prolonged perio d of time. To avoid b u rn-in image damage on your monitor screen, you should always activa te a screen sa ver application or turn off the mo nitor when it is not in use for a prolonged period of time .

Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on the moni tor provide the sp are part number, pro duct number, and serial number. You may need th ese numbers when conta cting HP about the monitor mode l. The rati ng labels are loca ted on the back of the monitor.
4 Operating the Monitor Installing the Driver You can install the mo nitor-driver INF and ICM file s from the CD (included with select models) or download from the Internet . Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM file s on the co mputer from the CD: 1.
Setting the Optimal Resolution The recommende d resolution for this moni tor is 1366 x 76 8. To configure the monitor to this resolutio n, do the following. 1. Click the Windows Start butto n, and then select Control Panel . 2. Under Appearanc e and Personalization , select Adjust Screen Resolutio n .

Using the Auto-Adjustment Patt ern Software (Select Models) If a CD is provided wi th your monitor, use th e Auto-Adjustment Pat tern softwar e provided on the CD to improve the screen image. 1. Insert the CD in your computer CD drive. The CD menu is displayed.
A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following table lists possible prob lems, the po ssible cause of ea ch problem, and the recommended solutions.
