-20- G 06 36X 1 7 " Ultimate Band saw 5. Press the OFF button to stop the machine. 6. WITHOUT resetting the OFF button, press the ON button. The machine should not start. —If the machine does not start, the OFF but - ton safety feature is working correctly.
G06 36X 1 7 " Ultimate B andsaw - 21 - 9. Try to turn the machine ON . —If the bandsaw does not start, the switch disabling feature is working as designed. The Test Run is complete. —If the bandsaw starts, immediately discon - nect power. The switch disabling feature is not working correctly.
-22- G0636X 1 7 " Ultimate B andsaw Note: The 1 / 16 " spacing is ideal, although with larger blades it may not be possible. In such cases, adjust the guide bearings as far for - ward to the blade gullets as possible, and still maintain the proper support bearing spacing adjustment.
G06 36X 1 7 " Ultimate B andsaw -23- T o a djust the lower bl ade guid es : 1. Make sure the blade is tracking properly and that it is correctly tensioned. 2. DISCONNECT BANDSAW FROM POWER! 3. Familiarize yourself with the blade guide con- trols shown in Figure 25 .

G06 36X 1 7 " Ultimate B andsaw -25- 5. Make sure that the blade is perpendicular to the face of the support bearing, as illustrated in Figure 27 . —If the blade is perpendicular to the face of the support bearing, continue on to the next step.

-3 0 - G0 63 6X 1 7" Ult imate Bandsaw To fine tune the tracking: 1. Close the wheel covers and turn the bandsaw ON . 2. Observe the blade tracking path through the clear window on the right edge of the bandsaw, as shown in Figure 40 . F ine T un e T ra cki n g Figure 40.
G06 36X 1 7 " Ultimate B andsaw -3 1 - 2. Slide the bandsaw fence out of the way and cut halfway through the board on the line by pushing it into the blade. Turn the bandsaw OFF and wait for the blade to stop. 3. Clamp the board to the bandsaw table with- out moving it.

G06 36X 1 7 " Ultimate B andsaw -33 - Resawing ( Figure 45 ) is the pro cess of cut ting a board into two or more t hinner boards. The ma xi - mum boa rd width that can be resawn is limited by the ma ximum cut ting height of t he bandsaw . One of the most impor tant considerations when resawing is blade select ion.

Befor e making stacked cuts, ensure that both the table and the blade ar e properly adjust ed to 90° (se e Page 1 7 ).

Narrow blades can cut tight curves (a small radius) but are not very good at cutting straight lines because they naturally wander (blade lead).
