Warnings 332089B 3 W arnings The f ollowing w ar nings are f or the setup , use, grounding, maintenance , and repair of this equipment. The e xclama- tion point symbol aler ts you to a general w arning and the hazard symbol refers to procedure-specific risk.
Warnings 4 332089B ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD This equipment must be grounded. Improper g rounding, setup , or usage of the system can cause elec- tric shock. • T ur n off and disconnect pow er cord before servicing equipment. • Use only grounded electrical outlets.
Isocyanate Conditions 332089B 5 Isocy anate Conditions Material Self-ignition Moisture Sensitivity of Isocy anates ISO will react with moisture (such as humidity) to f or m small, hard, abrasiv e cr ystals, which become sus- pended in the fluid. Eventually a film will f or m on the sur- f ace and the ISO will begin to gel, increasing in viscosity .
Grounding 6 332089B Gr ounding This product must be grounded. In the e vent of an elec- trical shor t circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electr ic shock b y providing an escape wire f or the electr ic cur- rent. Metering valve: attach g round wire from grounding lug to true ear th ground.
Optional Cycle Detection Sensors 332089B 7 Optional Cyc le Detection Sensor s The sensors are magnetic reed s witches and must be connected to an electrical control package. The sensors wires are #24 awg and ha v e 9 f oot (2.7 meters) flying leads. An LED on the sensor illuminates to indicate a change in state.

Startup 14 332089B Star tup 1. Lubricate the meter ing rod por t in the oil cup retain- ing bloc k and fill the spool v alve ports with compati- ble lubricant such as mesamoll or silicone oil. 2. Pressurize the f eed systems connected to the metering valv e to prime the system.
Adjusting the Shot Size 332089B 15 Adjusting the Shot Size 1. Rotate the shot size loc king ring counterclockwise to loosen. 2. Rotate the shot size adjuster to adjust shot siz e. 3. Rotate the shot size loc king ring clockwise to tighten. 4. Dispense into waste container to test shot siz e.
Operation 16 332089B Operation The operation of the 1092 metering valv e is controlled by an e xter nal source. If a 4104A Control Bo x was pur- chased, see the 4104A Control Bo x manual f or opera- tion instructions.
Pressure Relief Procedure 332089B 17 Pressure Relief Pr ocedure 1. Retract the metering rods. See the 4104A Control Bo x manual. 2. Close the fluid shut-off v alve . 3. Remov e needle. 4. Dispense 5 shots. Shots should be at least 75% of the full stroke .
Troubleshooting 18 332089B T r oubleshooting Schematics For standard mac hines, the schematics will be included in the 4104A P ar ts manual. For custom machines, the schematics will be included in the assembly dr awings man ual. P erform Pressure Relief Procedure bef ore perf or m- ing any troub leshooting procedure.
Rebuild 332089B 19 Reb uild Disassembl y Ref er to F IG . 8 for part references in the f ollowing proce- dure. 1. For models with cyc le detection sensors, discon- nect the electrical power from the cycle detection sensors. Note the position of the sensors , then remov e them b y loosening the set screws and slid- ing them out carefully .
Rebuild 20 332089B 8. Remov e the Scre ws, that hold the Needle Bloc k Assembly to the Inlet Bloc k. The Needle Block Assembly ma y look different than the illustration as it ma y hav e multiple needles . If the needle is a remov ab le #10-32 or Luer Lock type consider removing it to protect it.
