Installation 311001G 7 Air Line 1. Install an air filter (A) on the gun air line to en sure a dr y , clean air supply to the gun. D ir t an d moisture can ruin the appear ance of y our finished workpiece . See F IG . 1. 2. Install an air pressure reg ulator (C) on the gun air line to control air pressur e to the gun.
Setup 8 311001G Setup Flush Bef ore Using Equipment 1. The equipment was tested wi th lightw eight oil, which is left in the f luid passages to protect parts. T o av oid contaminat ing your fluid with oil, flush the equipm ent with a compatib le solvent bef ore using the equip- ment.
Setup 311001G 9 Rever s e-A-Clean ® (RA C) Tip Model 249238 guns use a Re verse-A-Clean ® (RAC) tip . T o assemble the RA C tip , in ser t the seat housing into the air cap assembly . Inser t the SwitchTip . Inser t the gasket seat . Screw the RA C tip assembly onto the gun an d tighten firmly by hand.

Disengage the trigger loc k. See F IG . 13. 5. Hold a metal par t of the gun firmly to a groun ded metal pail.
Operation 311001G 11 How the Air -Assisted Spray Gun Operates The air-assisted spra y gun combines airless and air spra ying concepts . The spra y tip shapes the fluid into a f an pa tter n, as does a conventional airless spray tip .
Operation 12 311001G HVLP Operation Fluid Application Alwa ys hold the gun at a right angle from the surf ace. Do not make an arc wi th the gun as it causes an unev en coat of fluid.

Daily Gun Care, Flushing, and Cleaning 311001G 15 4. Connect the solv ent supply hose (T) to the gun. 5. Increas e the pressu re slowly . Po in t the gun down into a grou nded metal container , and flush the gun with solv ent until all traces of fluid ar e remov ed from the gun passag es.
Daily Gun Care, Flushing, and Cleaning 16 311001G 13. If th e diffuser was rem ov ed, tr igg er the gun wh ile yo u reinstall the diffuser (5) with the gu n tool (30). Tighten the diff user securely to ob tain a good seal. T orque to 1 55-165 in-lb (18-19 N•m).

Troubleshooting 311001G 19 Fluttering or spitting spray . Insufficient fluid supply . Adjust fluid regulator or fill fluid supply tank. Air in paint supply line . Chec k, tighten pump siphon hose connec- tions , bleed air from pa int line. Attempting to “feather” (par tially trigger the gun).

Repair 311001G 21 4. Inspect the o-rings (5e* , 5f*, and 5g*) in place. Carefully remo ve the o-rings fro m the diffuser ho us- ing (5a) and repla ce if necessar y . 5. Remov e the seat nut (5d), seat (5c) and seat gask et (5b , carbide models only) using a 7/32 in.
Repair 22 311001G Air V alve Repair 1. Unscrew the spr ing cap (11) fro m the back of the gun body ( 1) using th e gun to ol (30). Rem ov e t he two spri ngs (15 and 19), the shaft (9), an d seat (10). 2. Push the air v alve asse mbly (8*) out the ba ck of the gun.

Repair 24 311001G Reassembl y 1. Install the tube gask et (22*) in the gu n. Handtighten the fluid tube con nector (C) into th e gun’ s fluid inlet. Handtighten th e air inlet fitting (17) and scre w (20). T orque t he fluid tube connector to 150-160 in-lb (17-18 N•m).
