Like disks in other RAID config urations, single disks contain 3ware Disk Control Block (DCB) information and are seen by the OS as available units.

Recall that a RAID 50 is a multi-tier array . At the bottom-most la yer , N number of disks per group are used to form the RAID 5 layer .

Exporting a port instructs the firmware to remove the spec ified port from its pool of managed ports, but does no t retain the DCB (D isk Configuration Block) metadata on the at tached disk .
