3 About the GT 062E and Driv e M odes The GT 062E enclosure c ontains two hard disk driv es, which function as one single volume. Through the use of the Glyph Manager soft ware utility , it suppor ts three drive modes: RAID 1 (mirroring), RAID 0 (striping), and Spanning.
4 U sing the GT 062E with W indow s 2000 / XP Older versions of Windo ws, such as 2000 and XP 32-bit, use Master Boot Recor d which doesn’ t suppor t vol- umes larger than 2TB . When the total capacity of the RAID is 2TB or higher , you must format the arra y using GPT in Windows .

6 Arra y I nformation: Displayed ar e the S erial number of the selected enclosure, the volume name (onc e the drive has been parti- tioned) and the connection type. Congur ation and Selec ted Congur ation: Normally the Conguration and Selected Congura tion should match.
7 Init status: In normal operation the status should be “Success” . P ossible error conditions are “Disk too small” , “Incorrect disk count” , “Invalid RAID set ” , “Multiple R AID sets” , “Disk erase fail” and “Unknown init error ” .
8 Glyph Manager Op era tion In M ac OS X The GT 062E ships in RAID 0 mode, and drive mode changes ar e done by using the Glyph Manager sof tware utility (not the OS X Disk Utilit y). Disk Utility is used to format the new device after drive mode changes ar e made.
9 6. The next window requires tha t you verify the change request. Click OK to change the driv e conguration. NO TE: ALL DA T A ON THE DRIVES WILL BE DESTRO YED .
10 9. P ower o the GT 062E , unplug the F ireWire or eSA T A cable, plug the cable back in, then po wer it back on again. This is impor tant to force Mac OS to “forget” any current drive information. 10. If you get the Disk Inser tion dialog box, this time click Initialize which will open Disk Utility .
11 Note: After changing drive mode , it is necessar y to utilize the Windows C ontrol P anel/Administra tive T ools/ Computer Management/Disk Management to f ormat the drives in their new conguration befor e they will be usable. The Glyph Manager menu options are as f ollows: “F ile ” contains the method to close the pr ogram.

14 Mac OS X F ormatting Instructions Since your GT 062E c omes pre-formatted for Macintosh y ou don’ t need to f ormat them on installation. If you decide to ref or mat or partition your drive at a later dat e, use Disk Utility (supplied with the Mac OS X operat- ing system).
