5 CAUTION: Use only the A TLINKS USA 5-2498 power supply that came with this unit. Using other power supplies may damage the unit. D ESKTOP I NST ALLA TION 1. Plug the handset cord into the handset. Plug the other end into the jack on the back of the base.
6 “N O W ORR Y ” B A TTER Y B ACKUP This clock phone is equipped with a memory holding system that can be powered with a customer -installed 9-volt alkaline battery (not included). When power is interrupted, or AC line cord is unplugged, the battery will power the clock to keep track of time and alarm settings programmed into memory .
7 NOTE: Alkaline (NEDA 1604A) batteries are recommended. Carbon-zinc (NEDA 1604) batteries may be used but memory holding time will be substantially reduced. Memory holding time for a fresh alkaline batter y is approximately 8 hours (if W ake System is not activated), which should take care of short, nuisance-type AC power failures.
8 S ETUP S ETTING THE T IME AND D AT E NOTE: The telephone company sends the time and date with the Caller ID infor mation. The unit automatically sets the time and date when the first call is r eceived (if it has not already been set). T IME 1. Press and release the SET button until SET REAL TIME is displayed.
9 S ETTING THE D ISPLA Y C ONTRAST This setting allows you to adjust the display contrast for easier viewing. 1. Press and release the SET button until SET CONTRAST is displayed. 2. Use the REVIEW buttons to select the desired setting (1-5). 3. When finished, press SET to confirm.
10 S ETTING THE L ANGUAGE This adjustment changes the prompts to be displayed in English, French, or Spanish. 1. Press and hold the SET button until SET LANGUAGE is displayed. 2. Use the REVIEW buttons to select the desired language. 3. When finished, press SET to confirm.
11 A LARM B ASICS S ETTING THE A LARM T IME 1. Press the SET button. 2. Press ALARM 1 or ALARM 2. 3. Use the REVIEW buttons to set the wake time. 4. Press SET to confirm. A LARM S ELECT 1. Press the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button to review the setting. 2. Press and release the desired ALARM button to choose music, buzzer , or off.
12 U SING THE S NOOZE T IMER After the wake mode has activated, you can silence it for another 9 minutes by pressing the SNOOZE button. Y ou can use the SNOOZE feature repeatedly . The alarm will remain on for 30 minutes if SNOOZE is not pressed. A DJUSTING THE S NOOZE T IMER 1.
13 T ELEPHONE B ASICS S ETTING THE R INGER V OLUME The RINGER switch is located on the side of the base. Set it to the HI, LO, or OFF . Remember that the RINGER switch must be set to HI or LO or the phone will not ring for incoming calls. S ETTING THE H ANDSET V OLUME Use the VOL switch on the side of the handset to adjust the handset volume.
14 T EMPORARY T ONE Use the temporary tone feature if you have pulse (rotary) service, and want to access custom calling services that require touch-tone dialing, such as getting information from a local bank or credit card company . 1. Dial the number for the custom calling service.
15 C ALLER ID F EA TURES The unit receives and displays information transmitted by your local phone company . This information can include the phone number , date, and time; or the name, phone number , date, and time. The unit can store up to 99 calls for later review .
16 R ECEIVING AND S TORING C ALLS This unit receives and displays information transmitted by your local phone company . This information can include the phone number , date, and time; or the name, phone number , date, and time. The unit can store up to 99 calls for later review .
17 D ELETING C ALL R ECORDS • T o delete the recor d shown in the display , press the DELETE button once. • T o delete all recor ds while r eviewing, press and hold the DELETE button. DELETE ALL? appears in the display . Press DELETE again to complete.
18 2. Press the DIAL button and the display shows PICKUP or ADJ . Y ou have 10 seconds to adjust the number and pickup the handset to dial, otherwise the unit returns to the currently reviewed call. 3. T o adjust the phone number , press the DIAL button.
19 I F YOU DID NOT PROGRAM YOUR LOCAL AREA CODE IN THE SETUP MENU 1. Use the REVIEW buttons to display the number you want to dial. 2. See steps 2 through 4 in the above section to complete the dialback sequence.
20 M ESSAGE I NDICA TORS The following special messages indicate the status of a message or the unit: NO CALLS The call record log is empty . UNKNOWN The incoming call does not have Caller ID service or their service area is CALL not linked to yours.
21 M EMORY The following buttons can be stored into any memory location: 0-9, *, # and REDIAL (P AUSE). See "Inserting a Pause in the Dialing Sequence" and "T one/Pulse Dialing". S TORING A N UMBER IN M EMORY 1. Pick up the handset.
22 C HANGING A S TORED N UMBER Repeat the storage sequence. The new number will replace the old number at the memory location. E RASING A S TORED N UMBER 1. Pick up the handset. 2. Press STORE. 3. Press REDIAL. 4. Press STORE again. 5. Press the location (a, b, c, 0-9) to be erased.
23 D IALING S TORED N UMBERS 1. Pick up the handset. 2. Press MEMORY . 3. Press 0-9 for the memory location. The number dials automatically . I NSERTING A P AUSE IN THE D IALING S EQUENCE The REDIAL button becomes a pause function when the STORE button has been pressed first.
24 C HAIN D IALING FROM M EMORY Use this feature to make calls which require a sequence of numbers, for instance if you use a calling card for a frequently called long distance number .
25 T ROUBLESHOOTING T IPS N O D IAL T ONE • Check all cabling to make sure that all connections are secure and not damaged. • Check hook switch: Does it fully extend from the handset when it is li.
26 P HONE D OES N OT R ING • Is the ringer switch in the OFF position? • Are you using too many phones on one line? (The total REN of all phones on the same line should not be greater than the maximum REN for your calling area. See FCC Registration Information) • See ” NO DIAL TONE ” .
