4 1. INTRODUCTION The CD Twin i s a stylish, new concep t for CD backup. With it’s light- weight design, the C D Twin provides not only CD backup , but also doubles as an audio C D track editin g console for making a personal CD. It can be used as a stand-alone CD player and can also be used as an external CD-RW when connected to a PC via USB.

6 2. SETTING UP THE SYSTEM 2.1 Stand Alone Operation with out Connecting to a Computer I. Plug in the power cor d II. Power up the CD Twin III. Wait for the system to initialize NOTE: Make sure the USB cabl e is un-plugged when using the CD Twin in Stand Alone mode.
7 3. OPERATING GUIDE 3.1 CD to CD BACKUP I. Power up the CD Twin and wait for the system to initialize II. Inse rt the sour ce disc int o the reader CD-ROM [labeled as Reader], and insert a blank disc into the writer CD-RW [labeled Writer] III. Press the START button to begin the CD backup process.
8 3.2 COPY TRACK (Make a Compilation CD) This function al lows you to make a compilatio n audio CD from a single CD, or multiple source CDs. I. Insert the so urce audio CD into the Reader CD-ROM drive an d insert a blank disc into the Writer CD-RW drive.
9 V. After cop ying all of the tracks from the first CD, the Reader C D- ROM drive will automatically eject. Insert the next audio CD, repeating steps 1 through 4, if you would like to add additional tracks to your compilation. NOTE: After you h ave finished all of the track editing, you must use the [3.
10 3.4 MUSIC PLAYER This feature allows you to play standa rd CDs with your CD Twin. Simply plug in speakers to the earpho ne outp ut and select a pla y mode. You can play an entire C D or pick onl y songs you would like to hear. I. Insert an au dio CD into either driv e, select [Music Player] from the main menu and press START.
11 3.5 SYSTEM FUNCTIONS 3.5.1 Erase Disc The [Erase Disc] fun ction may only be used to er ase a CD-RW disc tha t is installed in the Writer drive location. I. Select [5. System] from th e main menu and press START. II. Insert the CD-RW disc that you would like to erase in to the Writer CD-RW drive.
12 3.5.3 UPGRADE BIOS From time to time, Al esis will upgrade the CD Twin’s BIOS. You can obtain the latest version from the Alesis w ebsite at www.alesis.com . I. Select [5. Syst em] and press START. II. Select the function [5.3 Upgrade BIOS] and press START.
13 3.5.4 SYSTEM INFORMATION This function will provide you with all of the related info rmation about your CD Twin. [Product serial n umber, Model name, Firmware version, CD-R and CD-RW drive manufacturer s and their re spective firmwa re versions. Select function [5.
14 4. EXTERNAL CD-RW to PC VIA USB2.0 This function al lows your CD Twin to be used a s an external storage device when connected to yo ur PC. I. Connect a U SB cable from th e rear of your CD Twin to an available USB port on your PC . II. Power up the CD Twin and it will automatically boot up i nto USB mode and the LCD will show [PC Link].
