4 NOTE: When perform ing t he following step, be sure the starter rope is not c aught under the cable clamps. The starter rope must hang freely to operate properly. 7 REPLACE SP ARK PLUG Replace the spark plug eac h year to ens ure the engine starts eas ier and runs better . Set spark plug gap at 0.025 inc h. Ignition timing is fixed and nonadjustable. 1. Tw ist, then pull off spark plug boot. 2. Remove spark plug from cylinder and dis- card.
8 STORAGE W ARNING: Perform the foll owing steps after eac h use: S Allow engi ne t o cool, and sec ure the uni t before st oring or transport ing. S Store unit and f uel i n a well ventilated area where fuel vapors c annot reach sparks or open f lames from water heat ers, electri c motors or switches , f urnaces, et c.
