6 CS-370 VIBRA TION AND COLD • It is belie v ed that a condition called Ra ynaud’ s Phenomenon, which affects the fingers of certain individuals, ma y be brought about b y e xposure to vibration and cold. Exposure to vibration and cold ma y cause tingling and burning f ollo wed b y loss of color and numbness in the fingers .
7 CS-370 SP ARK ARREST OR MUFFLER • The spark arrestor muffler controls the e xhaust noise and prev ents hot, glowing par ticles of carbon from leaving the muffler . Make sure the spark arrestor screen is in good repair and properly seated in the muffler .

9 CS-370 ADJUSTING CHAIN TENSION 4. Mount guide bar on studs and slide to ward clutch to make sa w chain installation easier . Install chain with cutters on top of guide bar f acing f ow ard. 5. Release the chain brak e , and install the clutch cov er over the guide bar studs .
10 CS-370 FUEL AND LUBRICANT DANGER FUEL IS VERY FLAMMABLE. USE EXTREME CARE WHEN MIXING, STORING OR HANDLING OR SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY MAY RESULT. • USE AN APPROVED FUEL CONTAINER. • DO NOT SMOKE NEAR FUEL. • DO NOT ALLOW FLAMES OR SPARKS NEAR FUEL.
11 CS-370 OIL TANK CAP FUEL TANK CAP CAP INDICATION Fuel/oil tanks are indicated by the following illustrations. CHAIN LUBRICANT Proper lubrication of the chain while in operation reduces friction between the chain and the guide bar to a minimum and assures a longer ser vice lif e.
12 CS-370 WHEN THE ENGINE IS W ARM • Mov e chain brake le v er fully f orw ard to engage chain brak e bef ore star ting. • Confirm there is fuel and chain oil in the tanks. • Mov e ignition switch to “R UN” position. • Securely hold the chain saw as sho wn and pull star ter handle.
13 CS-370 R UNNING • When engine star ts, keep idling f or a fe w minutes . • Set the brak e le v er in the released position bef ore star ting to cut. • Pull throttle trigger gradually and increase rev olution of the engine. • The chain star ts running when the engine reaches to 3,800 r/min appro ximately .
14 CS-370 CUTTING INSTRUCTION GENERAL CAUTION • Read the ECHO “CHAIN SAW SAFETY MANUAL” included with your chain saw for additional cutting and safety instructions. • Wear suitable hearing protective device such as earmuffs or earplugs to protect against objectionable or uncomfortable loud noises.
15 CS-370 FELLING THE TREE A falling tree can seriously damage an ything it ma y hit - a car , a house, a f ence , a po wer-line , or another tree. There are wa ys to make a tree f all where you want it, so first decide where that is! Before cutting, clear the area around the tree .
16 CS-370 LIMBING Limbing a fa llen tree is much the same as b uc king. Ne v er remove a limb from a tree while it is suppor ting your weight. When limbing, caution is the word. Be careful of the tip touching other limbs. Alwa ys use both hands. Don’t cut with the saw o v erhead or the bar in a vertical position.
17 CS-370 CHAIN BRAKE OPERA TION • Set the le v er in the released position bef ore star ting to cut. • If the brak e is tripped by kic kbac k reaction, the chain will stop immediately . Release the throttle to av oid possib le damage to the engine or clutch.
18 CS-370 END OF THE GUIDE BAR may be placed at the height of about 35 cm. 35 cm A UT OMA TIC CHAIN BRAKE Kickbac k produced from the tip of the guide bar will trip the automatic chain brake . T o make sure that the automatic chain brake oper ates properly , follo w these steps: 1.
19 CS-370 MAINTENANCE AND CARE CARBURET OR ADJUSTMENT Every unit is run at the factory and the carburetor is set in compliance with Emission Regulations. In addition, the carburetor is equipped with “H” (High Speed) and “L ” (Low Speed) needle adjustment limiters that pre v ent settings outside acceptab le limits.
