3 About Y our New Labelmaker With your new DYMO LabelMANAGER ™ 450 labelmaker, you can create a wi de variety of hi gh- quality , self-adhesive labe ls.
4 T o insert the tape cassette 1. Press and re lease the tape cas sette cover to open the tape co mpartment. See Figu re 3. Figure 3 The first time you u se the labelmaker, remove the protectiv e cardboard insert from between the pr int head and pinch roller .
5 Setting the Curr ent Date The default date f ormat depends up on the language selec tion for the labe lmaker . Y ou can change the defa ult date format by fol lowing the instructi ons in Changing the Date Format on page 10. T o set the date 1. Press .
6 The display is sim ilar to a wi ndow that scrol ls across the text. (See Fi gure 6.) The number of characters actually displayed can va ry due to proportional spacing . Figure 6 In addition, feature indica tors appear on the display to let you know when a f eature is selected.

Formatting Y our Label Y ou can choose from a number of formattin g options to enhan ce the appearan ce of your labels.

9 Using T abs Y ou can add tabs to a label to align t ext on multi- line labels. T abs are left justi fied and the def ault spacing is 2.0 ” (50 mm). T o change the tab spac ing 1. Press . 2. Select Set T ab Length and pre ss . 3. Use the up and down arrow k eys to increase or decrease the tab setting, and then press .
10 T o add a symbol 1. Press . The first row of symbols shown in the table appears in the display . 2. Use the arrow keys to move to the d esired symbol. The left and right arrows move horizontally alon g a row of symbols. Th e up and down arrow keys scroll vertically through the rows of symbols.
11 3. Select Fixed Time or Autom. Updated and press . When Autom. Updat ed is selected , a time icon is inserted on your label. When Fi xed Time is selected , the actu al time is i nserted on y our label i n the format spe cified.
12 The barcode prints ho rizontally alon g the label with the text in small p rint underneath the barcode. Y ou can optionally add text before and after the barcode. Or, you can add text above or belo w the barcode by creating a two-line la bel. See Creating Multi-Line Labels on page 8.
13 Adjusting the Print Contrast Y ou can adjust the print co ntrast to fine tune the print quality of y our label. T o set the contrast 1. Press . 2. Select Set Contrast and press .
14 Clean your lab elmaker from time to ti me to keep it working properly . Clean the cutter b lade each time you repla ce the label cassette. T o clean the cutter blade 1. Press A to turn off the power. 2. Press A and together . The message , Cut T est , appears on th e display .
