2 Become familiar with the fe atures shown in Figure 2. Inserting the Battery To insert the batt ery 1 Slide the batt ery compartment cover away from th e label mak er. See Figure 3. 2 Insert the bat tery into the batte ry compart ment. 3 Replace the b attery compart ment cover.
3 Inserting the Label Cassette Your label make r uses DYMO D1 lab el cassettes. To insert the label cassette 1 Lift the label ca ssette cover to op en the label compartm ent. See Figure 4 . 2 Make sure the tape an d ribbon are taut across the mou th of the cassette an d that the ta pe passes bet ween the labe l guides.
4 To print a label 1 Enter text to create a simple la bel. 2 Press Print . 3 Press the cut ter button to c ut the label. 4 Remove the pape r backing from the label to expose the adhesive, and then attac h the label.
5 Starting the Built-In Software The built-in software resides o n the labe l maker; no installa tion is required. To start the soft ware for Windows ® 1 If necessary, press to turn o n the label maker. Depending on Windows AutoRu n se ttings, the software may start automatic ally.
6 Printing Labels with the Buil t-In Software The following figur e shows some of the features available in the so ftware. To print a first label 1 Click once on the label in the Edit area and type some text. 2 Click to print the label. 3 Press the cutte r button on the la bel maker to cut t he label.
7 Installing the DYMO Label™ v.8 Software To install the so ftware on a Windows ® system 1 Click in the built-in soft ware to do wnload the latest version of DYMO Label v.8 from the Support sectio n of the DYMO Web site. When DYMO Labe l v.8 is installed, clicking will start the software.
