5 About Your New Label Maker With the DYMO ® LabelManag er ® 280 electronic label maker, you can create a wid e variety of high-q uality, self- adhesive labels. Yo u can choose to print you r labels in several different fon ts, text sizes, and text styles.
6 Inserting the Label Cassette Your label maker comes with a starter lab el cassette. The label maker u ses DYMO D1 label casset tes in widths of 1/4”, 3/8”, or 1/2” . Visit www. dymo.com for information about purchas ing additiona l label cassettes.
7 LCD Display With DYMO’s exclusive graphic al display, most of the formatting you add is visible inst antly. Feature indica tors along th e top and side o f the LCD display appear in black to indicat e when a feature is selected. Navigation Keys You can navigate throug h menu selections using the navigation keys : , , , and .
8 Changing the Text Size Six text sizes are available for your labels: The text sizes a vailable depend o n the label width yo u have selected. For single-line labels: For two-line labels: The text size ap plies to all charac ters on a labe l. To change the text size 1 Press , select , and t hen press .
9 Creating Fixed-Length Labels Normally, the length of the label is auto matically determined by the length of th e text. However, you c an choose to set t he length of the label for a specific application. When you choose a fixed label length, the size of the label text is automatical ly adjusted to fit the label.
10 Adding Clip Art The label make r includes the clip art shown below. To insert clip art 1 Press , select , and then press . 2 Select Clip Art , and th en press . 3 Press the navigation keys to select an image. 4 Press to add the im age to your label.
11 Using Auto-Numbering You can print a series of up to 10 labels at a time using auto-numb ering. You can add numeri c (0 ,1, 2... 9), u pper case (A , B, C. ..Z), or lowercase (a, b, c... z) auto-number ing to your la bel. Optionally, you ca n add text before and after the aut o- numbering.
12 Opening Saved Labels You can easily open labels that are saved in memory. To open saved labels 1 Do one of the following: • Press and h old for a few seconds. • Press and then sele ct . The first memory locatio n is displayed. 2 Press or to select a label, and then press .
13 Using the Label Maker with Your Computer The label make r can be us ed as a standalone label printer or you can p rint labels d irectly from you r computer using the latest version o f DYMO Labe l ™ software. Installing DYMO Label Software Do not conne ct the la bel maker to your com puter until prompted b y the soft ware installer .
