1 THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING AN ASTROSTART REMOTE CAR STARTER! Just like you are, Directed Electronics C anada is concerned with the environment. This is why we are suggesting you to use the two-minute runtime when you remote-start your vehicle to warm up engine fluids.
2 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Before using this product, carefully read the following safet y precaut ions. GENERAL RULES • Never perform a remote start when a person or animal is inside the vehicle. • Do not allow any person or animal to remain inside the vehi cle when the engine is runni ng under remote starter control (continuous mode).
3 SAFETY SEQUENCE FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES Your remote starter was designed to force y ou to perform a series of actions that will ensure that the gearshift lever is in neutral position when you exit the vehicle.
4 THE REMOTE CONTROL Your remote control can transmit on two different channels, allo wing control of two separate vehicles. Up to four remote controls can be assigned to your vehicle. NOTE : The range of your remote control can be affected by a weak battery, interf erence from nearby metal structures, hydro poles, or crowded parking lots.

6 START COMMANDS STARTING THE ENGINE Refer to the table of command on page 5 to know which but t on to press. The system automatically adjusts ignition durat ion for your type of vehicle; parking lights flash once (durat ion: four seconds) then stay on all the time engine is running.
7 CONTINUOUS MODE Continuous Mode function lets you remove the key f rom t he ignition while leaving the engine running. This convenient feature allows you to leave your vehicle for s hort periods while climate controls remain on.
8 LOW TEMPERATURE MODE Press the and buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. The command alternatively activates/ deacti vate Low Temperature mode. In Low Temperature (Sentinel) mode, system starts your engine aut omatically when temperat ure falls below a preset level.
9 SECURITY SYSTEM (OPTIONAL) The current section only applies to an Astr oStart security system (added as an option) which must not be confused with the vehicle’s OEM system. PROTECTION ZONES Your security system can use up to six dif f erent monito ring devices simultaneously to protect your vehicle.
10 OPERATION Your alarm system has three diff erent operating modes, active , semi-passive rearming and passive rearming depending on initial programming. See the relevant par agraph for the mode your system was configured in during installat ion. ACTIVE In active mode, the alarm must be armed and di sarmed using the remote.
11 The following table shows the effect t hat each zone has on the rearming cycle (after 25 or 60 seconds depending on installation). Protection zone Effect on rearming cycle Hood Doors Additional sensor (trunk) Shock sensor These four zones prolong rearming cycle as long as they r emain in violation.
12 The following table shows the meaning of zone codes (number of fl ashes). ZONE CODES FLASHES ZONE INDICATED 1 System is armed. 2 A door is/was open. 3 Hood is/was open. 4 Alarm condition is/was detec ted on shock sensor input. 5 Key is/was in the run position.
13 GLOSSARY S IREN Siren has six different sounds, i.e., it chirps repeatedly and has six di fferent melodies (supplied only with optional alarm ki t). It chirps intermittently (short r epeated chirps) during a pre- alarm and cont inuously dur ing an alarm condition.
14 UNLOCK / DISARM Refer to the table of command on page 5 to know which but t on to press Doors are unlocked and alarm is disarmed, parking lights flash and siren chirps twice to conf irm command has been received and that no alarm condition was generated during your absence.
15 OTHER COMMANDS ANTITHEFT (CIRCUIT DISABLER) Programmable as Active or Inactive during installation. Your Remote Starter is equipped with an Antitheft system. This system consists of an output that controls a r elay that cuts all circuits required to operate your vehicle ( optional connection).
16 CAR FINDER Refer to the table of command on page 5 to know which but t on to press. This function sounds horn (short tune) and f l ashes par king lights to help you locate your v ehicle in a large parking lot. REMOTE SILENT MODE The remote can be programmed to be used in silent mode.
17 ALARM CONDITION CODES Use this command to identify which zone is in viol ation during arming or whic h generated alarm conditi on. Refer to the table of command on page 5 to know which but t on to press. Parking lights will flash number of times corres ponding to code for protecti on zone in violation.
18 GEARSHIFT CHECK APPLICABLE TO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION VEHICLES If key must be in ignition for gearshift t o be moved out of P , your vehicle is safe as long as keys are kept away from children. If, on the other hand, gearshift c an be put in gear without key being in ignition, proceed wi th this simple check.
