Never use the cooktop surface as a cutting board. Do not try to remove heavy spills with a sharp object such as a knife or metal spatula.

6 7 Getting to Know Y our Range BACKGUARD: Some versions of the range come with a three (3) inch backguard installed. It protects the wall from the ef fects of heat and splattering grease. An optional six (6) inch and a nine (9) inch backguard are also available.
6 7 Setting Up Y our Range Cooktop Assembly Stack Burner Assembly Put the burner rings on the burner bases as shown below . Match the correct sizes. The bottom of the correct size burner ring fits inside the top of the matching burner base. T urn the ring until it drops into place.
8 9 When installing the knobs, align the “D-shaped” opening on the back of the knob with the end of the valve shaft. Carefully push the knob on until it stops. Put the remaining knobs on the left valve shafts. • • Setting Up Y our Range Grates Gently set the grates on top of the spill tray .
8 9 Setting Up Y our Range Control Panel Position The control panel can be swiveled to a 50° angle for easier viewing and use. T o pivot the control panel: Push in on the bottom of the control panel where it says “ PRESS HERE” . The control panel will pivot up.
10 1 1 Selecting the Cookware For overall safety and best cooktop performance, select the correct cooking utensil for the food being cooked. Improperly selected cooking utensils will not cook evenly or efficiently . Use cookware that: Has flat, smooth bottoms.
10 1 1 Operating the Cooktop Using the Griddle For best results, allow the griddle to preheat for about 10 minutes before you start to cook. Before using the griddle for the first time, wash it in hot, soapy water . Rinse it and allow it to dry thoroughly .
12 13 Operating the Oven Before Y ou Cook... When you use your oven to bake or roast, it preheats automatically . The preheat cycle rapidly brings the oven chamber up to the proper cooking temperature. It takes several minutes to preheat the oven. Preheat time depends on the temperature settings.
12 13 Operating the Oven Starting Y our Oven Adjust the racks to the appropriate level. Determine the best cooking mode for the type of food to be cooked. 1. 2. Select from the following: CONVECTION BAKE - A combination of the convection fan and a bottom heat source.
14 15 Preset (Jump-in) T emperature Settings Y our oven has a preset “jump-in” temperature setting for each of the cooking modes to reduce the need to always enter the temperature. See the table below . See “Starting Y our Oven” on page 13 for directions on how to cook at the preset temperature.
14 15 Operating the Oven Understanding the V arious Oven Modes The three basic styles of cooking in an oven are: BAKING - The gentle cooking of dry goods such as cookies, cakes, soufflés, etc. ROASTING - The cooking of meats or vegetables over a period of time.
16 17 Operating the Oven Y our range offers three convection cooking modes: Pure Convection Convection Bake Convection Roast As a general rule, in the convection modes time is about 25% shorter . Set the timer 15 minutes before the shortest stated time and add more time if necessary .
16 17 T imers W ARNING The timers on your range do not turn the oven on or off. They are only for timing purposes. When you want to turn the oven off automatically , use the Delay Timed Cooking Features (see page 18). IMPORT ANT : Pressing the CANCEL/SECURE key does NOT turn of f the timers.
18 19 Delay T imed Cooking Features If you want to set the oven to automatically turn itself on or off at a later time, you can use the delay timed features. Things to Know About Delay T imed Cooking: The delay timed options work for all of the various cook modes, except broil and convection broil.
18 19 If you want to cook using a different probe temperature, enter it on the keypad. Use the USDA Minimum Safe Cooking T emperature Chart as a guideline for the type of meat you are cooking. Press ST ART . If you do not press ST ART , the probe mode will start automatically after six seconds.
20 21 Operating the Oven Important details about the meat probe: Y ou must select the specific cooking mode ( BAKE , CONVECTION BAKE , PURE CONVECTION , or CONVECTION ROAST ) before you press the PROBE key . There is no preheat cycle when the meat probe feature is used.
20 21 Dehydrating T ips (cont.) Solving Discoloration Problems: T o prevent darkening during dehydration and storage, you should steam blanch apples, apricots, peaches, nectarines, pears, or foods that will oxidize. T o steam blanch: Add 1 inch of water to a 4 quart sauce pot.
22 23 Cooking T ips Food Placement NOTE: The rack positions mentioned below are counting from the bottom up. T ypically , when baking on 2 racks, use rack positions #2 and #4 or #1 and #3. When baking on 3 racks, use rack positions #1, #3, and #5.
22 23 Cleaning and Maintenance Y our Oven’ s Self-Clean Feature About the Self-Clean Cycle The oven will run better and produce better baked goods when it is clean. During self- cleaning, the oven is heated to very high temperatures which burn off any deposits on the surfaces of the oven.
24 25 General Cleaning CAUTION Use only a sponge, soft cloth, fibrous or plastic brush, or nylon pad for cleaning the surfaces of your range. Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners such as steel wool. Knobs and T rim Rings CAUTION Do not soak the knobs in water or put them in the dishwasher .
24 25 Cooktop Disassembly CAUTION Do not clean the cooktop grates, burner parts or WOK ring in a dishwasher . They will be damaged. Dry and re-assemble the burners and grates completely before use. • • When the cooktop is cool, remove the grates from the top of the cooktop.
26 27 Oven Y our oven’s self-clean feature eliminates the need for manual scrubbing of interior surfaces. The steps below are for cleaning surfaces and items that are not cleaned by the self-clean process. T o use the self-clean feature see page 23.
26 27 Cleaning and Maintenance Door Gasket (Seal) Clean the door gasket by dabbing it with a solution of water and mild soap. Do not scrub it or it will become damaged. Oven Racks T o clean the oven racks, apply a solution of detergent and hot water .
28 29 Replacing the Light Bulbs Light bulb replacement is considered to be a homeowner maintenance operation. If the lights do not work, before replacing them, please consult the Problem Solution Guide on page 30. T o replace the light bulbs, follow these steps: T urn off power to the oven at the main power supply .
