5 T esting T est Load Po wer Minimum Cable Size 100 w #16 A WG copper 250 w #12 A WG copper 500 w # 8 A WG copper T he end of the cable that connects to the inv ert- er must have its insulation stripped off f or about 1/2 inch (1.25cm) back from the end , exposing the bare copper .
7 5. I f a DC pow er supply is being used as the power sourc e, switch it On. T urn the ON/OFF switch on the inv erter to the On position. Check the meters on the left side panel. The v oltage should indicate betw een 11 and 14 v olts , depending on the voltage of the power source.
9 Mounting Mount the inv erter on a flat sur face placing the mounting bracket on the bottom. Mounting hardware should be corrosion r esistant and at least #10 or larger . The inverter can be mounted horizontally or vertically . C ables (included) Pow er wire and wiring is v er y important to the per formanc e of the inv erter .
11 Ground Wiring T here is a screw on the rear panel labeled Chassis Ground . This is to connect the chassis of the inv erter to ground. The ground terminal in the A C outlet on the right side panel of the inv erter is c onnected to the chassis.
13 5. C onnect the cable from the positive terminal of the inv erter to the positive terminal of the battery ’ s main fuse, or to the battery selector switch, if you are using one. Make a secure c onnection. Y ou might observe a spark when you make this c onnection since current can flow to charge capacitors in the inv erter .
15 T he in verter will operate most A C loads within its power ra ting. Some induction motors used in freez- ers, pumps and other motor-oper ated equipment r equir e very high surge currents to start. The invert- er may not be able to start some of these motors even though their rat ed current draw is within the inv erter ’ s limits.
