1 Chapter 1 Introduction This Chapter provides details of the Network Camera's features, components and capabilitie s. Overview The Network Camera has an Integrated Microcomputer and a high quali.
• Stream Live Video to Multiple Users. The MPEG4 en cod er and HTTP server built into the camera generate a ready-to-view vide o stream. Just connect to the cam era using your Web browser or the provided Wi ndows u tility to view live video. • Suitable for Home, Business or Public Facilities .
Wireless Features • Standards Compliant. The Network Camera complies with the IEEE802.11g (DSSS) specifications for Wireless LANs. • Supports both 802.11b and 802.11g St andards. The Network Camera suppor ts both 802.11b and 802.11g stan dards. • Speeds to 54Mbps.
Physical Details - Network Camera Front - Network Camera Lens No physical adjustment is required or possible for the lens, but you should ensure that the lens cove r remain clean. The image qu ality is degraded if the lens cover is dirty or smudged. Microphone The built-in microphone is mounted on the front.

Chapter 2 Basic Setup This Chapter provides details of installing and configuring the Netwo r k Camera. System Requirements • To use the wir ed LAN inter face, a standa rd 10/100B aseT hub or swi tch and netw ork cable is required.
Installation - Network Camera 1. Assemble the Camera Screw the supplied antenna to the mounting poin t on the rear. Attach the Camera Mo unt to the camera. 2. Connect the LAN Cable Connect the N etwork Cam era to a 10/100Ba seT hub or swi tch, using a standard LAN cable.
Setup using the Windows Wizard Initial setup should be performed using the supplied Windo ws-b ased setup Wizard. Th is program can locate the Network Camera even if its IP address is invalid for your network. You can then configur e the Netwo rk Camera with appropriate TCP/IP settings for your LAN.
• Select th e desired Camera from the list on the left. The current settings for th e selected Camera will be displayed in the table on the right. • Click Next to continue . 3. You will be prompted to enter the Adm i n istrato r Nam e and Administrator Password , as shown below.

3 Chapter 3 Viewing Live Video This Chapter provides basic informa tio n about viewing live video. Overview After finishi ng setup vi a the Windows-ba sed Wizard, all LAN users can view live vide o using Internet Expl or er on Wi nd ows. This Chapter has details of viewing live video using Internet Explorer.

Connecting to a Camera via the Internet You can NOT connect to a camera v ia the Inte rne t unless the camera Administrator has configured both the camera a nd the Inte rnet Gate way/Router used by the camera. See Making Video available from th e Internet in Chapter 4 - Advanced Viewing Setup for details of the required co nfiguration.

Viewing Live Video After installing the ActiveX compone nt, you will be able to view the live video stream in its own window, as shown below. Figure 15: View Video Screen There are a num ber of options av ailable on this screen, accessed by select list, button or icon.
4 Chapter 4 Advanced Viewing Setup This Chapter provides informa tio n about the optiona l settings and features for viewing video via the Network Camera .
3. Make the required ad justments, as e xplained belo w, and save y our changes. MPEG-4 Settings Resolution Select the desi red video resolution format. The default resol ution is set to 320*240. Video Quality Control • Constan t Bit Rate: Select the desi red bit rate.
Sharpness Select the desir ed option f or th e sharpness. You can select a Sharpness value betwee n -3 and 3. Options Microphone Enable audio by checking th is checkbox. Using Audio will increase the bandwidth requirements slightly. Speaker Enable speaker sound b y checking this ch eckb ox.
Controlling User Access to the Video Stream By default, anyone can connect to the Network Camera and view live Video at any time. If desired, you can limit access to sc heduled time s, and also restrict access to known users. To Control User Access to Live Video: 1.
Making Video available from the Internet If your LAN is connecte d to the Internet, t ypically by a Broadband Gateway/Router an d Broadband modem, you can make the Network Camera available via the Internet. You will need to configur e your Router or Gateway to allow connectio ns from the Internet to the ca mera.
Network Camera Setup The Network Cam era confi g urati o n d oes N OT ha ve be c h ange d, unless: • You wish to change the port number from the default value (1024). • You wish to use the DDNS (Dynam ic DNS) feature of the Network Camera. HTTP Port Configuration Normally, HTTP (Web) connections use port 80.

Operation is then automatic: • Th e Network Camera will automatically contact the DDNS server whenever it detects that the Internet IP ad dress has changed, and inform the DDNS server of the new IP address. • Internet users can then connect to the cam er a using the Domain Name allocated by t he DDNS service provider.
Where the Router/Gateway's Dom ain name is mycamera.dyndns.tv and the "Secondary Port" number on the Network Camera is 1024 . Viewing Live Video with the Viewing/Recording Utility If using the Windows Viewing/Recording Utility, the details of the Network Camera must be entered on the Camera Setup screen.
Motion Detection Alerts The Motion Detection feature can generate an Alert when motion is detect ed. The Network Camera will compare consecutiv e frames to detect changes caused by the movem ent of large objects. But the motion detector can also be triggered by: • Sudden cha nges in the level of availabl e light • Movement of the camera itself.
If the Motion Detection feature is enabled, but E-Mail is not enabled, then the only action when motion is detected is to log this event in the system log.
5 Chapter 5 Web-based Management This Chapter provides Setup details of the Network Camera ’s Web-based Interface. This Chapter is for t he Camera Administrator only. Introduction The Network Camera can be configured usin g your Web Browser. Th e Networ k Camera must have an IP address which is compatible with your PC.
Welcome Screen When you connect, the following screen will be d isplayed. Figure 23: Welcome Screen The menu options available from this screen are: • View Video - View live Vi de o using your Web Br ow ser. See C h apt er 3 - Vi ewi ng Live Video for details.
Administration Menu Clicki ng o n Administration on the menu provides access to a ll the settings for the Network Camera. The Administration menu contains t he following options: Setup • System • .
System Screen After clicking Administration on the main menu, or selecting System on the Administration menu, you will see a screen like the ex ample below. Figure 24: System Screen Data - System Screen System Settings Device ID This displays the name for the Network Camera.
Time Zone Choose the Time Zone for your location fro m the drop-down list. If your location is currently using Daylight Saving, en able the Adjust for dayli ght savin g checkbox. You must UNCHECK this checkbox when Daylig ht Saving finishes . Network Time Protocol Enable or di sable the Tim e Server feature as requi red.
Network Screen This screen is displayed when the Netwo rk menu option is clicked. Figure 25: Network Screen Data - Network Screen Network Obtain an IP Address Automatically If selected, the Network Camera will obtain its IP address and related information from a DHCP Se rver.
Use the following DNS server address Primary DNS server - Use the sam e value as PCs on your LAN. Normally, your ISP will provide this address. Secondary DNS server - This is optional. If entered, this DNS will be used if the Primary DNS doe s not res pond.
Wireless Screen This screen is displayed when the Wireless menu option is clicked. Figure 26: Wireless Screen Data - Wireless Screen Wireless Network WSC PIN Code It display s the WSC PIN c ode which ca n be used fo r WiFi Protected Setu p function. Network Type This determines the type of wireless communication used by the Network Cam era.
Security Security System Select the desired option, and then en ter the settings for the selected method: • Disabled - No security is used. An yone using the correct SSID can connect to your network. • WEP - The 802.1 1b standard. Data is encrypted before transmission, but the encryption system is not v ery strong.
DDNS Screen Many internet connections use a "Dy namic IP address", where the Inte rnet IP address is allocated whenever the Internet connection is established. This means that other Internet users don't know th e IP address, so can 't establish a connection.
Account/E-Mail Enter the login name for the DDNS account. Password/Key Enter the pass word for the D DNS account. Check WAN IP Address Set the schedul e for checking if the Internet IP address has changed. If the IP address has ch anged, the DDNS Server will be notified.
Video & Audio Screen This screen is displayed when the Video & Audio option is clicked. Figure 28: Video & Audio Screen Data - Video & Audion Screen MPEG-4 Settings Resolution Select the desi red video resolution format. The default resol ution is set to 320*240.
Max. Frame Ra te Select the desir ed Maxim um bandwidt h for the vi deo stream . Note that you can specify EITHER th e Bandwidth OR the Frame Rate, not both. If the Bandwidth is define d, the frame rate will be adjusted as necessary to achieve the specified fram e rate.
Flip The Flip setting will swap the image top-to-bo tto m. If the camera is m ounted upside-dow n on the ceiling, c heck both the Flip and Mirror settings to have the image rotated to th e correct position. Mirror The Mirror setting will swap the image left-to-right.
Video Access Screen This screen is displayed when the Video Access option on th e Video & Audio m enu is clicked. Figure 29: Video Access Screen Data - Video Access Screen User Acc ess Enable Secu.
Add New Schedule Day Choose the desired optio n for the p eriod. Start Time Enter the start t ime using a 24 hr clock. End Time Enter the end t ime using a 2 4 hr clock.
User Database Screen This screen is displayed when th e User Database option on th e Video & Audio menu i s clicked. Figure 30: User Database Screen Data - User Database Screen Existing Users User List This displays all users you have entered into the User database.

E-Mail Setup E-mail Address Enter at least one (1) E-Mail address; the 2nd and 3rd addresses are optional. The E-Mail alert will be sent to the E-Mail address or addresses specified here. Subject Enter the desir ed text to be s hown as the "Subject" for t he E-Mail when it is received.

Trigger Event Motion Detection If enabled, m ovement in a motion detectio n window can b e used to trigger events. Interval Select the desired option for the events in terval. (* "0" = No Delay) Actions • E-Mail - If checked, an E-Mail (with "Attachment") will be delivered to the SMTP server.
Maintenance Screen This screen is displayed when the Ma intenance option on the m enu is clic ked. . Spaces, punctuation, and s pecial characters must NOT be used in the name.
Backup & Restore Backup Configuration File Click Backup button to save the current con fig uration information to a text file. Restore Configuration File Click Restore button to reinitialize the ca mera to load the new updated software. Do this after loading the upgrade file.

Chapter 6 Windows Monitor/Playback/IP Recorder Utility 6 This Chapter describes how to view and record the l ive video stream generated by the Network Camera , using the supplied Windows utility. Overview The recomm ended method to view vide o is to use t he supplied Wi ndows Viewing/ Recording utility.
System Tray Icon When started, the program will create an icon in the Windows system tray on the taskbar, as shown below. Figure 40: System Tray Icon You can right click the icon and it will prov id es a menu which allows you to view prog ram details, view the main screen, or terminate the program.

Adding Cameras on the Internet If the Network Camera you wish to add is not on your LAN, but is av ailable via the Intern et, click the Internet button. You will see a screen like the example below. Figure 43: Add Camera from Internet To associate a camera with t he current Channel : 1.

Main Screen You can view live video in the main screen. The built-in software can let you view up to 9 cameras on a single com puter sc reen at one central location. The Icons allow you to control th e cameras and video stream s. Channel (Camera) Selection.
Flip Video. Click this to have the image swapped top-to-bottom. Mirror Video. Click this to have the image swapped left-to-right. Sound On/Off. This can be used to select th e Audio stream which can be hear d. (Only one audio stream can be selected at any time.
Recording Video You can rec ord Video whi le watching, or schedule reco rdings to occ ur when you a re absent. Recordings are stored in a st andard Microsoft A SF file form at, and can be pl ayed using Microsoft Media Player. Before doi ng any recor ding, you sho uld review the recording set tings to ens ure they are suitable for your PC.
Preferences This screen is displayed after clicking the Preferences tab on the Set up screen. If necessary, change these settings to suit your environment. Record after Trigger Event Set the time so the Utility will stop recording the certain time after the Utility detects motion in a Camera's field of view. Disk Allocation for Each Camer a Re cording Total Disk Spa ce This displays the total size of the disk selected for storing recordings.
