4 3D Systems, Inc . 3 CUBE 3D PRINTER FEA TURES The print jets heat print materials and produce thin, owing streams of melted plastic creating layers that adhere to the print pad. After each layer is produced, the print pad lowers so that a new layer can be drawn on top of the last.

8 3D Systems, Inc . 6 UNP ACKING AND SETTING UP YOUR CUBE CONTENTS *Depending on the Cube model and conguration, up to two cartridges may be included. Not every printer will be packaged with two cartridges. NOTE: The sandpaper should only be used for lightly sanding the print pad when prompted by the touchscreen display .
9 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Open the box. 5. Remove the upper foam support. 6. Remove the printer from the box and remove the protective bag from the printer . Place the printer on a solid, level base where you intend to use it. NOTE: When installing the printer there must be a minimum of 8” (203 mm) of space on top and on either side of the printer .
10 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Fold the sides inward and remove the lower insert from the printer . 5. Manually raise the print platform (A) and remove the spacer (B) from the printer . 6. Open the accessories box and unpack the material cartridge(s)*, the USB mass storage device, the power supply and cord, and the bottle of Cube Glue.
11 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Connect the power cord to utility power and to the power supply . NOTE: Ensure the connection is secure. 5. Power on the printer by pressing the button next to the touchscreen display .
12 3D Systems, Inc . INITIAL SETUP OF THE CUBE 1. Select your language. Select the checkmark to continue. NOTE: The selected language will be indicated. 2. Enter a name for your printer . Scroll through the characters by pressing the arrow symbols on each side of the screen.
13 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: The printer will attempt to connect to your network. NOTE: If the network is password protected, your printer will rst prompt you to enter the password. Once entered, select the checkmark to continue. NOTE: The display will indicate when the network connection has been made.
14 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: Connection to a network is conrmed by a checkmark to the left of the network name. If the network is secure, a lock icon will appear to the right of the network name. 4. Select the checkmark to continue to the registration and warranty activation process.
15 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Enter your serial number twice and select Activate . NOTE: Y our 4-digit activation code will appear . Make note of the activation code. Y ou will need to enter it into the printer ’s touchscreen display to activate the printer .
16 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Before installing cartridges, select the cartridge icon or select ST ART to begin the process of installing your print cartridge. NOTE: The printer will begin to heat. W ait until the printer has nished heating and then follow the user prompts in the touchscreen menu.
17 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: The print jet will begin to heat. Once the print jet has reached the proper temperature, the printer will prime melted material into the refuse bin. 4. The left cartridge has been installed. Select the checkmark to continue.
18 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Mount the cartridge on the right side of the printer and select the checkmark to continue. NOTE: It may become necessary to slightly rotate the cartridge to seat it properly .
19 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: The printer will begin the Auto Level procedure. This may take a few minutes. NOTE: If the print pad is not level, remove the print pad and select the checkmark to continue. The print pad is magnetically attached to the adjustment knobs.
20 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: When prompted, tighten the lock screw enough to ensure the adjustment knob does not easily turn. Select the checkmark to perform Auto Level again. Caution: Do not over-tighten the lock screw . This can damage the adjustment knob and void the manufacturer ’ s warranty .
21 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: If Auto Gap is not successful, it is recommended that you perform Auto Level and Auto Gap again. Select AUT O LEVEL to continue. NOTE: If Auto Gap is not successful the second time, select PLA TE MAINTENANCE . For more information, refer to the section titled Print Pad Maintenance.
22 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Select the checkmark to go to the main menu. NOTE: Y ou may also press and release the button next to the touchscreen display to return to the main menu.
23 3D Systems, Inc . MENU OVERVIEW T ouchscreen Display After powering on the printer , touch the display to start. CAUTION: When navigating the touchscreen display , use only light nger pressure to make selections. Using anything sharp will damage the touchscreen display and will void the manufacturer ’ s warranty .
24 3D Systems, Inc . Printer Calibration CALIBRA TE CALIBRA TE is a utility that allows you to nely tune your gap settings. When Level Gap, Auto Gap and Manual Gap have been successful but the bottom layer of your print appears stringy and not tightly fused together , your printer should be calibrated.
25 3D Systems, Inc . System 3 FIRMW ARE Selecting FIRMW ARE allows you to update the printer rmware either with a le downloaded to a USB mass storage device or by wireless connection. INFO By selecting INFO , the printer will display the printer status.
26 3D Systems, Inc . INST ALLING A MA TERIAL CARTRIDGE Before the printer will print a creation, at least one cartridge must be installed. If you try to print a creation and no cartridges have been installed, the display will prompt you to install a cartridge.
27 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Insert the print jet (from the cartridge that will be mounted on the left side of the printer) into the left print jet opening on top of the printer . 5. Rotate the print jet clockwise until the dots (A) align. Select the checkmark to continue.
28 3D Systems, Inc . 7 PRINTING YOUR CREA TION There are many 3D creations available at www .cubify .com. In addition, you can create your own with Cubify Invent and Cubify Sculpt software available at www .cubify .com. The printer can only print .cube3 les.
29 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: If the print le requires PLA material and ABS material is installed, the printer will prompt you to change the cartridge(s). Select CHANGE CARTRIDGE and refer to the section titled Replacing A Material Cartridge for instructions about replacing a cartridge.
30 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: The printer will load the print le. NOTE: The estimated time to completion is noted at the bottom of the screen. NOTE: The blue bar at the top is also a progress indicator that shows the status of the loading process. NOTE: The print jets will begin to heat.

Refer to the section titled Finishing Y our Creation for information about removing your creation from the print pad, cleaning the print pad and cleaning the part.
32 3D Systems, Inc . 8 FINISHING YOUR CREA TION REMOVING YOUR CREA TION FROM THE PRINT P AD CAUTION: Before attempting to remove your creation from the print pad, ensure that the printer has nished printing. Once printing has completed, the print platform and print pad will move to the bottom of the printer .
33 3D Systems, Inc . Removing Sidewalks A sidewalk (A) is a mesh boundary that prints around the outside diameter fo the part. Its main purpose is to reduce the tendency of warping especailly when printing at parts with ABS material. They are not recommended for parts that have ne details.
34 3D Systems, Inc . 9 CUBIFY SOFTW ARE Cubify software is an easy-to-use tool that simplies the printing process. Software for Windows or OS X is available after login to your www .cubify .com account. The iOS mobile application is available from the App Store and the Android mobile application is available from the Google Play Store.
35 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Select Next to continue. 5. T o install the software, you must accept the terms in the license agreement. Select the checkbox and then select Next to continue. NOTE: By selecting the checkbox, you agree to the license terms and conditions.

49 3D Systems, Inc . Print Settings Print Settings allow you to set the parameters of your print and build them into your print le. There are four (4) dif ferent options for setting the print parameters. Presets • Draft A print that does not require strength or ne details.

56 3D Systems, Inc . Connecting Cubify T o Y our Printer Y our printer must be connected to the same wireless network as your computer or mobile device to transfer print les wirelessly or to view the printer properties. 1. Select PRINTER (A). 2. Select the printer on your network (B).
57 3D Systems, Inc . Add T o add a model to the print pad, select the ADD * button. Selecting From My Shelf will take you to the MY SHELF tab. Selecting From File will allow you to browse to the le on your computer where you can drag and drop the le directly to the print pad.
58 3D Systems, Inc . Remove T o remove the model from the print pad, select the Remove * button. Select Ye s to conrm your decision. Y ou can nd the model again by selecting My Shelf .
59 3D Systems, Inc . Color The Model Changing the color of the model is easy . Select the color wheel and drag the color to the part you want to color . For models with multiple parts, select and drag a color to the part of the model you want to color .
60 3D Systems, Inc . Move T ool The Move tool* provides a way to change the position of the model on the print pad. This is especially helpful when printing more than one model at the same time. T o move the model, select the model and then select the Move tool .
61 3D Systems, Inc . Rotate T ool T o rotate the model on the print pad, select the part and then select the Rotate tool *. T o use the Free rotate option, select the X-axis, Y -axis, or Z-axis and then select either the right or left arrow . Y ou can also rotate the model by selecting an axis and entering a value in the Exact Rotate eld.
62 3D Systems, Inc . Scale T ool The Scale tool* provides a way to increase or decrease the size of the model on the print pad. Select the model and select the Scale tool . For free scale, select the up arrow to increase the size or the down arrow to decrease the size.
63 3D Systems, Inc . Center Model T ool Select the model and then select the CENTER * button to center the model on the print pad. *Not an available feature for mobile applications.
64 3D Systems, Inc . Reset T ool The Reset T ool enables you to revert any changes back to default. If the model has been moved, rotated, scaled or centered, select the model and then select RESET to revert it back to its original state. Select Ye s to conrm your decision to reset the model.
65 3D Systems, Inc . Zoom In Zoom in on a model by selecting it and then selecting IN . ZOOM IN does not affect the size of the model but brings it closer for better viewing.
66 3D Systems, Inc . Zoom Out Zoom out on a model by selecting it and then selecting OUT . ZOOM OUT does not af fect the size of the model but pushes the print pad away for another perspective.

77 3D Systems, Inc . SA VING A MODEL TO A MASS STORAGE DEVICE Desktop Application For printers not connected to a wireless network, you can save Cubify models to a USB mass storage device and then transfer the print les by inserting the device into the USB port on the printer .
78 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Select File . NOTE: Selecting My Shelf will save the print le to My Shelf. The original 3D le will remain there as well. NOTE: Cubify will generate a print le. 5. Once the le has been generated, browse to the USB mass storage device and select Save .
79 3D Systems, Inc . 10 OPERA TION PROCEDURES APPL YING CUBE GLUE Cube Glue contains water-soluble glue that adheres the part to the print pad. It is important that glue is applied to the print pad before starting any print to ensure that the creation does not move during the printing process.
80 3D Systems, Inc . REPLACING A MA TERIAL CARTRIDGE Caution: Material cartridges should only be replaced by performing the following procedure. Replacing the cartridge without using the printer menu can damage the printer and print jets and void the manufacturer ’ s warranty .

Select the checkmark to complete the procedure. SETTING UP A WIRELESS CONNECTION Wireless connections can be made with a Wi-Fi network or an ad hoc network.
83 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Select WIFI NOTE: The printer will search for area networks. 5. Using the up or down arrows, browse to your network name and select it. NOTE: Connection to a network is conrmed by a checkmark to the left of the network name.

NOTE: If the printer could not connect to the network, you will be prompted to connect to a different network. NOTE: The printer will indicate that it has successfully connected to a network.

86 3D Systems, Inc . 11 CUBE MAINTENANCE GENERAL CLEANING W aste material from the printing process can accumulate inside the printer . Using a slightly damp, lint-free cloth, wipe the interior of the Cube, including the print pad and anywhere else you might nd pieces of plastic waste material.

REPLACING THE JET WIPERS After a predetermined number of print jet cycles over the jet wipers the display will prompt the user to replace the wipers before printing another creation. NOTE: When the left jet wiper has reached the end of its useful life, the printer will prompt you to replace it.
88 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Pull the jet wiper (A) upward. 5. Install the new jet wiper onto the purge bin and reinstall the purge bin assembly into the printer . NOTE: Ensure the jet wiper is fully seated before reinstalling the purge bin assembly . 6. Select the checkmark to conrm the replacement of the jet wiper .
89 3D Systems, Inc . PRINT P AD CALIBRA TION Print pad calibration is performed at the factory but should be performed routinely to ensure quality printing. The printer may occasionally prompt you to perform the Auto Level and Auto Gap procedures. If your creations are not printing as expected, check the level of the print pad.
90 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: If the print pad is out of range, you will need to perform a manual adjustment. 4. Remove the print pad and select the checkmark to continue. NOTE: T o remove it, lift up the front of the print pad and pull it out of the printer .
91 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Reinstall the print pad and select the checkmark to perform the Auto Level procedure again. NOTE: Select SKIP to bypass the Auto Level procedure. It is recommended that Auto Level procedure is performed again. 5. Once Auto Level is successful, the printer will being checking the Z-gap.
92 3D Systems, Inc . Gap V erication Print a test print from the System 1 menu. Once you have removed it from the print pad, visually inspect the rst (bottom) layer of the print and verify the quality . T urn the print upside down and inspect the printing grain.
93 3D Systems, Inc . Manual Gap Adjustment If Auto Gap is unsuccessful, you may perform a manual gap adjustment to ensure the rst layer of the part prints properly . NOTE: The print pad must be clean and free from glue and print material. NOTE: Ensure the print jet nozzles are clean and free from print material.
94 3D Systems, Inc . PRINT P AD MAINTENANCE Auto Level and Auto Gap can be affected by residual glue or print material adhered to the print pad. The procedures can also be affected by a print pad that is too shiny . 1. If Auto Gap is unsuccessful after two consecutive attempts, select PLA TE MAINTENANCE .
95 3D Systems, Inc . PRINTER CALIBRA TION Printer Calibration is originally performed by the manufacturer . When Level Gap, Auto Gap and Manual Gap have been successful but the bottom layer of your print appears stringy and not tightly fused together , your printer should be calibrated.
96 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Using the up arrow , slowly raise the print pad one press at a time. While the print pad is being raised, slide the gap gauge back and forth under the left print jet. Once you feel a slight resistance on the gap gauge, remove the gap gauge from the print pad.
97 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: The printer will set the Auto Gap. 4. Compare your recorded CAL 1: value with the Auto Gap value. NOTE: If the recorded CAL 1: value is within +/- 0.05 of the value displayed on the Auto Gap Successful screen, press the power button next to the touchscreen display and do not save the value.
98 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Once the Auto Level procedure has completed, select the checkmark to continue. If Auto Level is successful, proceed to step 20. NOTE: If the print pad is out of range, you will need to perform a manual adjustment. 5. Remove the print pad and select the checkmark to continue.

103 3D Systems, Inc . TEST PRINT T est print allows you to print the same welcome message that is printed during the initial setup of the printer . The print is very useful for determining if the gap between the left print jet and the print pad is correct.
104 3D Systems, Inc . NOTE: The printer will begin to heat and then begin printing the test print. 4. Once the printer has nished printing, select the checkmark to go back to the main menu. CUBE NAME Cube Name allows you to change the name of your printer .
105 3D Systems, Inc . RECOVERING THE CARTRIDGE Purge Jets is a utility that allows you the recover a print cartridge. The cartridge must be properly installed in the printer before performing this procedure. NOTE: If you do not have the door on your cartridge and need to recover it, please contact Cubify Support.
106 3D Systems, Inc . 4. Select the print jet you would like to purge and select the checkmark to continue. 5. Using the pliers from the tool kit, carefully pull down the material sleeve.
