4 Card Slot and Logica l Interface Numbering The cable interface line card slots maintain the same slot number regardless of whether other cable interface line cards are installed or removed. However , when you mo ve a line card to a different slot, the lo gical interface number cha nges to reflect t he new slot number .

8 Rack-Mount Installation Guidelines • Allow sufficient clearance around the rack fo r maintenance.Y ou need 36 in. (91.44 cm) of clea rance to remove and replace system componen ts. • Always place the heavier equipment in the lower half o f the rack.
9 Attach the Rack-Mount Brackets to the Rear of the Chassis T o install the rack-mount brackets on the chassis for a re ar rack-mount configuration, complete the following steps: Step 1 Locate the threaded holes in the rear sides of the chassis.
10 Step 3 Thread the four M4 x 6-mm Phillips flathead screws through the bracket and into the side of the chassis. Use a number 2 Phillips screwdriver to tigh ten the screws. Step 4 Repeat Step 1 through Step 3 for the other rack-mount bracket. Note Ensure you fasten the cable-management bracke t before installing the chassis in the rack.
11 Installing the Cable-Management Bracket Before installing the chassis in the ra ck, both rack-mount brackets and the cabl e-management bracket must be installed.
12 Installing the Chassis in the Rack War ni ng This unit is intend ed for installation in restricted access are as. A restricted access area can b e accessed only through the use of a special tool, lock and key , or other means of security.
13 Connecting the Chassis to Ground Before connecting power and turning on the router , you must pr ovide an adequate ground conn ection for your system. T wo M5 ground receptacles provide a chassis ground connection for electrostatic discharge (E SD) and for your safety .
14 T o connect th e Ci sco uBR7225VXR router chassis t o ground, complete the following steps : Step 1 Ensure that there is no power going to the router . Step 2 Use the wire stripper to strip approximately 0.75 in (2 cm) of shielding from one end of the 6-A WG wire.
15 Step 2 Plug the power cab le into the AC connector of the power supply . Note For additional AC power cable strain relief, se cure the cabl e to the power supply handle by inserting a nylon cable tie through the hole in the handle and aro und the cable.
16 7 Powering on the Cisco uBR7225VXR Router After installing your Cisco uBR7225VXR uni versal broadband router and connecting cables, check the following condi tions before powering on the router: • Every component is securely inserted in the right sl ot and the captive installation screws are tightened.
