2 PREINST ALLA TIO N Every installer should perform site evaluation prior to installing the transceivers. In order to perform this evaluation the following minimum equipment must be purchased from Carrier . The two modem starter kit (33CNWI RMOD) is re- quired to begin performing a site eval uation.
3 Table 1 — H ardwar e Specif ication s Serial Comm unications — In order to configure any transceiver , a 9-pin RS-232 cable must be used. This is neces- sary because Pin 4 is used to transmit the configuration data into EEPROM and other pins are use d during the configuration process as well (see T able 2).
4 Table 2 — Stand-Alone Transceiver Pin Out Anten na I ns talla tion — A ntennas must be connected to each transceiver for proper operation. W ithout an antenna, two units will not communicate. The higher the gain of the an- tenna, the longer t he range of the t ransceiver signal .

6 W ireless links can only be used t o extend a CCN primary bus (bus D). Do not use bri dges when using a wireless link. Utilizing this primary bus wireless connection to acce s s CCN devices through a bri dge will cause communication messages to be generated on the primary bus.

8 Modifying Set tings — Y ou can run the Quick Configu- ration wizard to modify settings or you can change e ntries manually in the fields in the modification tabs provided. When manually changing entries, you must cl ick apply and/or store for the changes to take effect.
9 Generating Rep ort s — Reports can be generated dur- ing the Quick Configure (if the box was chec ked) or can be generated at any time using menu commands. T w o types of re- ports can be generated. Information in each report can be cleared separat ely .
10 US E R F U NC T I O N S — T o ch ange the passw ord as a user: 1. Select Change Password from the File menu. Change password dialog appears. See Fig. 15. 2. Enter the desired criteria. Enter user nam e and new password. Retype the new pass- word in Confirm Password.
11 Session Holdoff — (Adjustment of these settings is not recommended.) This will only be enabl ed for a host transceiver and is re - quired to manage t he communication from mul tiple remotes. It prevents a host unit from starting a new session until it com- pletes its current session.
