4 Using the T ouc h Contr ol Dial T ouc hing the Dial A magnified image of the touch control dial displays on the LCD monitor when you place your finger on the dial. C ircling your finger on the dial allows you to configure the functions assigned to each button.
5 The following functions can be op erated using the touch control dial. Please note that some of the options for some functions can not be operated with it. 6 1. Charging the Battery . Charge the battery befor e use under the following circu mst ances. • When using the battery for the first time. • When the "Change the b attery p ack." message displays. 1. Insert the bat tery into the battery charg er .
7 2. Inst alling the Battery . 1. Slide th e memory card slot /battery cover and op en it ( a , b ). 2. Push t he battery lock in th e direction of the a rrow ( c ) and insert the b attery until it locks. T o remove the battery , p ush the battery lock in the direction of the arrow ( c ) and hold it while pulling the batter y out.

Fir st Time Settings Setting the Date/Time 1. Press the powe r button ( a ). 2. Use the or butto n to select an item and the or button t o change it s value ( b ).

10 T ur n ing the Camer a On/Of f 1. Press the power button or the button. The start-up sound will play an d the start-up image will display in the LCD monitor . • Pressing the power bu tton set s the camera to the shooting mod e and pressing the button set it to the playback mode.

12 R e viewing an Image Right After Shooting After a shot is t aken, the image appears in the LCD monitor for approximately 2 seconds. Y ou can continue to display images regardless of the review duration setting with the following procedures. • Keeping the shutter button pressed after a shot.

15 Using the Zoom 1. Press the zoom lev er toward or . The zoom can be adjusted from 35 – 105 mm (focal length) in 35mm film equivalent terms. Using the Flash 1. Press the button ( a ) and use the or button to switch between modes ( b ). Y ou can also use the touch control dial to make a selection .

17 Using the Self-Timer 1. Press the button ( a ) and use the or button ( b ) to display , or . • Y ou can also use the touch control dial to make a selection. • When the shutter button is pressed fully , the self-timer will activate and the self-timer lamp will blink (wh en using red-eye reduction, it will stay lit for the last 2 seconds).
18 Changing the Delay Time and Nu mber of Shots ( ) 1. In the [ (Rec)] menu, select [Self-timer] and press the FUNC./ SET button. 2. Use the or button to select [Delay] or [S hot s] and the or button to change the setting and press the FUNC./SET button.
19 1. Press the (pla yback) button ( a ). The last recorded image will display . If you have replayed images, the last image viewed will display (Resume Playback). If the memory card has been switched, or the images on the memory card have been edited with a computer , the n ewest image on the memory card appears.

28 2. Connecting the camera to a c omputer . 1. Connect the supplied interface cable to the computer's USB port and to the camera's D IGIT AL terminal. Use the toggle on the wrist str ap or slip a finge rnail under the edge of the camera's DIGIT AL terminal cover , lift up and plug the interface cable in all the way .

Install the supplied software and adjust the compu ter settings before using this method for the first time (p. 27). 1. Confirm that the Direct T ransfer menu is disp layed on the camera's LCD mo nitor .
