Sending images from a camera to an Android smartphon e (PowerS hot N2 ).
IMPORTANT • In the fo llowing explana tion, Android smar tphone setting pro cedures are indica ted by the icon, a nd camera setting proc edures are indica ted by the icon. • For conveni ence in this manual, s martphone s, tablets, and ot her compatible device s are collectively referred to as " smartphones".
Step 1: Confir ming th e Android OS version 1. Check t he Android smartpho nes requiremen ts. The camera can c onnec t via Wi - Fi to Android smartpho nes running the fo llowing opera ting systems: Smartp hon e: And roid OS 2. 3 / 4.0 / 4.1 / 4. 2 / 4.
Step 2: Installing CameraWindow on the Android smartphone Download and install CameraWindow fro m Google Play. If CameraWindow is alread y installed on the Android device, pleas e proceed to Step 3: Conn ecting the camera to the Android sma rtphone. NOTE • The exam ple procedure is show n on an Android sma rtphone installe d with Android OS 4.
IMPORTANT The CameraWindow applic ation is free, but separate c onnection charges for acc essing Google Play may be a pplicable. A Google acc ount is necessary to download Came raWindow. It is not pos sible to down load CameraWindow to Android smartpho nes not equipped wit h GooglePlay.
2. Touch t he search icon. 3. Enter 'c amerawindow ' in the search fie ld, and then touch th e search icon..
4. C hoos e [Canon CameraWindow] from th e displayed search r esults, and install it on the Android s martphone. Step 3: Connecting the camera to the Android smartphone 1. Turn t he Android smartpho ne on. 2. Confirm that the Android smartph one is not set to [Airplane mode].
REFERENCE Android O S 2.3 1. Touch t he menu key, and then to uch [Settings]. 2. Touch [W ireless and netwo rks], and the n append [Wi - Fi] with a ch eck. 3. Touch [W i - Fi setti ngs]. 5. Press the ca meras < Mob ile device c onnec t> ( ) button.
This nickn ame wi ll be disp layed on the screen of targ et d evices when c onnectin g to other d evices via Wi - Fi. Touch w ithin the frame and then enter a ni ckname (up to 16 lette rs and numbers) wit h the displayed keyboard. ([My Cam era] has b een enter ed in th e examp le i mage ab ove.
7. The cameras SSID is dis played on the screen. REFERENCE When you a re in the vicinity of an ac cess point that you hav e previously connected to, the camera will automatical ly c onnect t o it. To chang e access points, selec t [Switc h Netw ork] from th e screen that wil l be display ed when the connecti on is being esta blished.
NOTE For bette r security, yo u can require passwor d input on the screen by to uching [FUNC.], acc essin g [MENU] and choosing [ ] tab > [Wi - Fi Settings] > [Passwo rd] > [On]. In this case , in the password fiel d on the smart phone, enter the pa ssword displ ayed on the camera.
10. T ouch the [Canon CW]( ) application icon on the And roid smartphone to start CameraWindow. NOTE When st arting up CameraWindo w for the first ti me, the Android smartph one nickname registration scree n will be displaye d. Enter a nickname, and touch [OK].
11. Once the Android smartpho ne is recognize d on the camera, its nick name will be displayed on the came ra as shown in the image belo w. Drag up or down to di splay the desired Andr oid smartpho ne's nicknam e, and touch to choo se it.
• One smar tphone c an b e regis tered to the < > button. To assign a different one, fir st clear the current one i n MENU > [ ] tab > [Mobile Device Connect Butto n]. • To assign a different smart phone to the < > button, clear the current assignme nt.
2. Touch t he Android smartpho nes menu key, and t hen touch the image s you want to import to select the m. [ ] is displayed on selec ted images..
3. When you touch [Save], the se lected images will be imported into the Android smartphone . 4. To end the connection, touch the [ ] icon di splayed in the upper right of the screen, an d then touch [ Yes].
When the connection is ended, the c amera will automatically turn off. NOTE • To control the camera manually, either end the c onnection from the Android smartpho ne or restart the camera after pr essing the power button to turn it off momentarily. *Android, and Google Play are trade marks of Google I nc.
