When removing jammed paper or when inspecting the inside of the mac hine, do not allo w necklaces, bracelets, or other metal objects to touch the inside of the mac hine, as this may result in b urns or electrical shock.

IMPOR T ANT The recommended en velopes are COM10, MONARCH, DL, and ISO-C5. Using other env elopes ma y aff ect the quality of the printout.

Setting Enlarging/Reducing 5-6 Cop ying 5 Setting Enlarging/Reducing When placing a document on the platen glass, y ou can enlarge or reduce the cop y size using preset cop y ratios or using custom cop y ratios. Enlarging/Reducing Using Preset Copy Ratios NO TE Y ou cannot enlarge or reduce the cop y size when using the ADF .

Collate Copy The collate cop y allows y ou to sor t copies in page order . It is conv enient when y ou make m ultiple copies of multiple page documents.

NO TE When scanning multiple page documents , <MEMOR Y FULL> and <PRESS SET KEY> ma y appear in the LCD , and the document being scanned stops in the ADF .
Special Features 5-12 Cop ying 5 7 Press [Set]. The machine begins printing out. NO TE When scanning multiple page documents , <MEMOR Y FULL> and <PRESS SET KEY> ma y appear in the LCD and scanning is canceled. In this case, reduce the documents to be scanned.

Periodic Cleaning 8-2 Maintenance 8 Cleaning the Exterior Wipe the machine's e xterior with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water or diluted dishwashing detergent solution.
Periodic Cleaning 8-3 Maintenance 8 Cleaning the ADF Area Black lines ma y appear in copies when the ADF is used to feed documents. This is caused by paste , ink, correction fluid, or other f oreign matters in the read area of the platen glass (shaded area).
When to Replace the Cartridge 8-4 Maintenance 8 When to Replace the Cartridge The car tridge is a consumable item and should be replaced when the toner runs out.
When to Replace the Cartridge 8-5 Maintenance 8 3 Reinstall the cartridg e in the machine. 4 Make a fe w test copies. ● If the copies appear normal: Y ou can keep using the cartridge. However , a new one will be needed soon. ● If white streaks or light bands are still present: ❑ Replace the car tridge with a new one .

Replacing the Cartridge 8-17 Maintenance 8 8 Align the projections on both sides of the cartridg e to the guides in the machine and gently slide the car tridge into the machine as far as it will go.
Repacking and Transporting Your Machine 8-18 Maintenance 8 Repacking and T ransporting Y our Machine Be sure to unplug the pow er cord before tr anspor ting the machine. If the machine is likely to be subjected to vibr ation (e.g., when transporting over long distances), the f ollowing precautions should be tak en.

Push in the output tra y , and close the document feeder tr ay . Grip the handles on both sides of the machine and lift it carefully , as sho wn in the illustration abo ve .
Repacking and Transporting Your Machine 8-20 Maintenance 8 T ransporting the Machine by Car Pa ck the machine, using the original packing material and bo x. Place the machine on a le vel, stab le surf ace. IMPOR T ANT • Do not leav e the machine inside a car f or a long period of time; the temperature can become v er y high or lo w .
