1 Introduction This Quick S tar t Guide uses the following symbols to indicate important information. Always observe the instructions indicated by these symbols. Instructions that, if ignored, could result in death or serious personal injury caused by incorrect operation of the equ ipment.
2 Prep aring the Printer 1 Place the printer on a flat surface. 2 Remove the t apes from the printer as shown. The tape position is subject to change . 3 Open the Paper Support and t he Front Cover . 4 Remove the Protective Material on the right side.
3 Inst alling the FINE Cartridges • Never attempt to plug the power cord into the power outlet or unplug the power cord when your hands are wet. • Never damage, modify , stretch, or excessively bend or twist the power cord. Do not place heavy objects on the power cord .
4 5 Remove the Protective T ape gently . 6 Insert the Color FINE Cartridge slightly slanted into the right slot (C). 7 Push up the cartridge until it clicks into place. • Do not touch the electrical contacts or Print Head Nozzles on a FINE Cartridge.
5 8 Use the same procedure to install the Black FINE Cartridge . The Black FINE Cartridge should be insta lled into the left slot (B). 9 Close the Front Cover . W ait until the prepa ratory oper ation is co mplete; it takes about one to two minutes. iP2200_1600_1200_ QSG.
6 Inst alling the Printer Driver Installing the Printer Driv er – Windows ® 1 Ensure that the printer is turne d off. 2 T urn on the computer and st art Windows. If any applications automatically run, quit them. Do NOT turn the printer on at this stage.
7 4 Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. When the screen sho wn on the left is d isplayed, click Easy Install . 5 When the list of applications to inst all appears, verify the content s, click Inst all , and then follow the instructions on the screen.
8 8 T urn the printer on. If the printer is recognized, the printer driver will be automatically installed. 9 Click Next . When the Print Head Alignment Recommended screen appears, click Next . 10 When the screen shown on the left appears, click Exit .
9 Installing the Printer Driv er – Macintosh ® 1 Ensure that the printer is conne cted to the computer . 2 T urn on the Mac. 3 Place the Setup Sof tware & User ’s Guide CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive. 4 Double-click the Setup icon. 5 When the Authenticate screen appears, enter your administrator name and p assword, then click OK .
10 6 Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. When the screen shown on the left is displayed, click Easy Inst all . 7 When the list of applications to inst all appears, verify the contents, click Inst all and then follow the instructions on the screen.
11 9 When the screen shown on t he left appears, click Rest art . After restarting the computer , check that the printer name you want to use is shown in Printer List . If the printer name is not displayed, press Add to add the printer . For details, refer to the Pri nter Setup Utility Help in the Mac Help.
12 Basic Operations Adjusting the print settings according to your needs allows you to produce better quality prints. • If you detect smoke, unusual smells or strange noises around the printe r, immediately turn the printer off and always unplug the printer .
13 Printing with Macintosh 1 From your application’s File menu, select Page Setup . 2 Select your printer model in Format for . 3 Select the paper size to be used. 4 S pecify the page setup, then click OK . 5 From your application’s File menu, select Print .
14 Replacing a FINE Cartridge When the printer runs out of ink, re place the empty FINE Cartridge with a new one. Specify the following FINE Cartridges when purchasing. For iP2200, the FINE Cartr idges PG-50 Black (High Y ield) and CL-51 Color (High Y ield) can be installed as an option.
