Getting Started The proce dure for using the W i - Fi function t o send images from a camera to a computer is explained in the following four steps. Pr oceed in order from Step 1. IMPORTANT The po sition and shape of the o peration butto ns, screens display ed, and setting items may dif fer acco rding to the model you use.
Step 1 : Preparin g necessar y items 1. Check t he computer's requirem ents. The camera can c onnect vi a Wi - Fi to computers running t he followi ng operating systems. • Window s: Windows 8, Windows 7 Se rvice Pack 1 • Macint osh: Mac OS X v10.
Step 2: Setting up the computer (Windows only) Even i f your computer is connec ted to an access point , sending images from t he camera to the computer requires changing the compute r's settings.
• 2A: Wi ndows 7 2A - 1. In the Start menu, click [All Programs] > [Canon Utilities]. 2A - 2. Click [Camera Window] > [Wi - Fi connection s etup].
2A - 3. Click [Yes]..
2A - 4. The following scre en appears. This co ncludes the steps for c onnecting a comput er to a wireless LAN. Please pr oceed to Step 3: Conn ecting th e camer a to a computer. • 2B: Wind ows 8 2B - 1. Move the poi nter to the bottom r ight of the screen to displ ay the Charms Bar, and the n select [S tart].
2B - 2. Click [Wi - Fi Connect ion Set - up] on t he Start menu. 2B - 3. Click [Yes]. 2B - 4. The following screen appears..
This completes the Wi - Fi se tting pr ocedure f or the c ompu ter. Please pr oceed to Step 3: Conn ecting th e camer a to a computer. Step 3: Connecting the camera to the computer 1. Press the <Pla yback> ( ) but ton to turn the camera on. 2. Press the <Wi - Fi> ( ) button.
Press the < > button to disp lay the keybo ard, and use it to enter a n ickname for the camer a. 3. Press the < >< >< >< > but t ons to ch oos e ( ), and then press t he < > button. 4. Press the < >< > buttons to choose [Add a Devic e], and then press the < > bu tton.
NOTE Once a comp uter is added, the co mputer name will be displ ayed on the scr een in 4. To connect to a compute r again, simpl y choose th e c omputer na me fr om the li st. 5. A list of detected access points will be displayed in th e [Access Point Connect] screen.
5A - 2. Pres s the < >< > butto ns to choose [PB C Method], and then pre ss the < > button..
5A - 3. On the access po int, hold down the WPS connecti on button for a few seconds. On the camera, press t he < > button. • The camera will connect t o the ac cess point. • A list of comput ers connec ted to the a ccess p oint will app ear in the [S elect a Devi ce] scr een.
5A - 4. When a connectibl e device is found, a screen like the one below will appear. Touch t he name of the computer you w ant to connect with. A screen like the one b elow will appear. If y ou are using Mac or Windows with t he driver s installed, the screen will turn off after the connecti on is term inated.
5B Connecting to Access Points in the List 5B - 1. The access point's en crypti o n key is nec essary for conne ction. Refer to the user guide included with your access point to look up inf ormation on SSID, N etwork certificates, and security ke ys.
5B - 4. Pres s the < >< > buttons to choose [Auto] and pre ss the < > butto n. 5B - 5. A list of de vices connected to the access poin t will appear on the screen. Press the < >< > buttons to c hoose t he name of the computer you w ant to connect to, and t hen press t he < > button.
A screen like the one b elow will appear. If you are using Mac or Windows with the drivers installed, the screen will turn off after the connecti on is term inated.
5C - 2. Pres s the < >< > buttons to choose [Manual Settings] an d press the < >. 5C - 3. Press the < > button and ent er the SSID key on the dis played keyboa rd.
5C - 4. Cho ose the Security method/en crypti on method . 5C - 5. Press the < > butt on to access the keyb oard, an d then enter th e encr yption key.
5C - 6. Pres s the < >< > butt ons to choose [Aut o], and then press the < > button. 5C - 7. When a d evice is found, a screen like the following will appear. Choose th e name of the c omputer you wan t to c onnect t o, and th en pres s the < > butto n.
A screen like the following will appear. If you are using Mac or Windows with the drivers installed, the screen will turn off after the connecti on is term inated.
Windows 7 users: Please proceed to 7A: Windows 7. Windows 8 users: Please proceed to 7B: Windows 8. 7A - 1. Window s 7 When the sc reen in step 7 is shown on the came ras LCD panel, click the computer.
7B - 1. Windows 8 When the sc reen in step 7 is shown on the came ras LCD panel, move t he computers poin ter to the bottom right side of the de sktop to display the Char ms Bar, and then click [Settin gs] > [Control Panel] > [Add a Device]. 7B - 2.
7B - 3. Wh en the c onnecti on betw een th e camer a and t he comput er has b een es tabli shed, a scr een lik e the following will appear. Click [T ap to choose what happens w ith this device.
7B - 4. Click [Downloads images from Canon camera]. Step 4: Sending images to the computer.
1. The CameraWindow me nu window will be displaye d, so click [Import Images from Ca mera]. 2. A window like the one s hown below will appear, so click [Im port Untrans fer red Images], [Select Images to Import], or [Import All Images].
3. If you ch ose [ Select I mages to Impor t] in S tep 2, select th e imag es you want to import, an d then click [Impo rt] ( ). 4. The following window will ap pear, and the compute r will start to transfer images fr om the camera.
5. Click [OK]. NOTE • Click the ( ) butto n to close this window . A related applicat ion ([ImageBrow ser EX] by default) will start automati cally and the imported ima ges are displayed. • CameraWindow default settings will sa ve images to the Pictures or My Pictures folders on a compute r.
