1 • Always gr asp the power plug when unplugging the pow er plug. Do not pull on the power cor d, as this may expose the core wir e of the power cord or damage the cor d insulation, causing electricity to leak , resulting in a fire or electrical shock.
2 • Confirm that the power plug or po wer connector is inserted completely after cleaning the machine. F ailure to do so can result in an overheating and fir e.

6 Check ing the Supplied Ac cessories 1. Confirm that all the supplied accessories ar e contained in the bo x. If an item is missing or damaged, please contact our Canon Authorized Service F acilities or the Canon Customer Car e Center . Place this guide near the printer for eff ective usage.
7 User Soft ware CD-ROM About the Drivers and Software The drivers and software included in the CD-ROM supplied with this machine are as follow s. MF Drivers Printer driv er Y ou can print from an application using the machine by installing the printer driver on y our computer .

9 2. Remove the packing materials. * The pack ing materials may be changed in form or plac ement, or may be added or removed without notice . Remove the tape that is attached to the paper (the paper describes precautions). Remove the packing materials.
10 P reparing the T oner Car tr idges 1. Lift the scanning platform. Lift the scanning platform. Hold the operation panel. If you cannot lift the scanning platform Make sure that the platen glass is completely closed. Do not tr y to for cefully lift the scanning platform as this may damage the machine.
11 Remove the packing material. Remove the packing material. Lift the tab. Place the toner cartridge on a flat sur face, and then lift the tab. Shake five to six times . Pull the sealing tape complet ely out. The full length of the sealing tape is approximately 19 3/4” (50 cm).
12 4. Close the toner co ver , and then lower the scanning platf orm. Low er the scanning platform. Close the toner cov er . L oading P aper 1. Open the paper cassette . 2. Load the paper , and then adjust the paper guides. Load the paper . Load the paper until the edge of the paper stack meets the back of the paper cassette.
13 Slide the paper guide to the rear edge of the paper without space. Slide the paper guides to the paper width without space. Do not connect the USB cable. Connect the USB cable when installing the software. Ensure that the machine is off . Plug the power plug in to the power socket.
14 1. T urn ON the machine. T ur n ON the machine ON Setting a P aper T ype Pr ess [ ] (Menu setting key), and then start the menu operation. Pr ess [ ] (Menu setting key) to exit the menu operation. Pr ess [ ] or [ ] until “P” is displayed. Pr ess [ ], and set the menu to be able to change the settings.
15 Installing the Dr ivers Soft war e (F or Windows) 1. T urn on the computer , and then log on as a user with administrativ e privileges. 2. Install the MF Drivers and MF T oolbox. If you have alr eady logged on, exit all applications which are running .

17 Ensure that the MF Drivers and MF T oolbox are installed correctly . Ensure that the icons f or the installed software are added as follo ws. Software Location Icon Printer driv er Printer f older Window s XP Prof essional Fr om the [Start] menu, select [Printers and F axes].
18 Connect the USB cable after installing the soft ware . The installation screen varies depending on the v ersion of MAC OS X. Installing the S of tware (F or Macintosh) Close all applications that are running . Double -click the CD -ROM icon.
19 Remove the cap plug . Remove by pulling the string . Connect the cable. • Flat end ( A): Connect to the USB port on the computer . • Square end (B): Connect to the USB port on the machine. P er form the follo wing procedure only when c onnecting this machine to Macintosh with a USB cable.
20 The computer is c onnected with the scanner . With this section, check that the scanner driver is installed corr ectly. • Y ou do not need to check the installation results of the printer driv er . Y ou can use the drivers when the registra tion of this machine is completed.
21 Using the e -M anual Page c onfiguration of the e-Manual When you start the e -Manual, the screen below is display ed. Click a button for the function which you want to use or desired information. Click to refer to the contents, glossary , and how to use the e-Manual.
22 Inser t the User Software CD-ROM in your computer . Drag and drop the [MF Guide] f older into a location where y ou want to sav e it. Installing the e -Manual on your computer Inser t the User Software CD-ROM in your computer . Open the [Documents] → [MF Guide] folders.
23 If Y ou W ant to Uninstall the Installed Sof t war e 1. Confirm the f ollowing points. 2. Delete the soft war e. F or the printer/scanner driver F or MF T oolbox F or Product Extended Survey Program Open [Pr ograms and F eatures]. Select [Canon MF3010], and then click [Uninstall/Change].
24 F or Macintosh If the machine is connected to a computer with a USB cable, disc onnect the USB cable. Open [System P references], and then click [Print & F ax] or [Print & Scan]. Select the machine, and then click the [-] icon. Delete all print queues set from this driver .
