4 Quick Star t Let’ s star t by printing on postcard size paper . This section explains the procedures requir ed to print with the paper and th e ink cassette (trial kit) included wi th your printer . Some st eps may v ar y according to the pr inter model so be sure to chec k which printer model you are using ( CP-300 or CP-200).

9 What Can Be Accomplished with this Printer Three paper sizes and two types of la bels Y ou can print on standard paper in postcard siz e, L size or credi t-card size . In addition to the standard siz e paper , you can print full -sized labels or 8-label st ick ers with the credit-card siz e paper .

16 Proper Handling of P aper Please use onl y the paper types specified f or use by Canon. P aper must be printed on the glossy side (the side witho ut any printe d markings). Alwa ys load p aper into the cassette with the glossy si de up .
17 P aper Storage Others If y ou wish to mount prints into an alb um, select an alb um with nyl on-based sleeves, or with prop ylene or cellophane slee ves. Other types of slee ves ma y cause color loss or color bleedin g.

20 Let’ s Print Preparing Y our Ink Cassette/P aper Sets and P aper Cassette Since there are sev eral kinds of sets (including the separ ately sold sets), please make sure y ou are using the right ink cassette, paper and paper cassette. If the set is not correct, your will not be ab le to print.
21 Printing on Credit Card Siz e P aper (54 × 86 mm (2.1 × 3.4 in.)) • The credi t card size paper cassett e is included with the CP-300. • The pape r cassette PCC-CP100 (sold separa tely) is required when printing on credit card size pa per with the CP-200.
22 Loading the Ink Cassette 1 Open the ink cassette compartment cover . 2 Remove an y slac k from t he ink sheet. • Push i n on the round par t in the middle of the cassette , and turn it in the ind.
23 Placing the P aper into the P aper Cassette 1 Open the paper cassette’ s top cove r and middle co ver . • Open the top cov er , then push the midd le cov er in the direction of the arro w and lift it up . 2 Fan the paper stac k pr operly and place the paper into the paper cassette, with the printable side (glossy side) facing up.
24 • Please us e specified paper t ypes only . • Do not insert more than 18 sheets in the paper casset te. • Ne ve r print on a sheet of paper more than onc e, e ve n if the first p rinting has left the paper completely b lank. The coating applied to the paper as it passes th rough the printer makes it unsuitable f or further use.
25 Loading the P aper Cassette 1 Open the paper cassette compartment cover . 2 Push the paper cassette all the way into the paper cassette slot. • Be sure th e paper is set correctly bef ore pushing the cassett e in. • I nser t the paper cassette e v enly so that it slides o ver the bottom of the sl ot entrance .
26 Connecting a P o wer Sour ce and the Camera to the Printer Connect the camera to the printer usin g the cable (included with the camera) and turn the printer’ s po wer on. F or more detailed camer a connection instructions, ref er to y our Camer a User Guide .
27 T urning the Printer’ s P ower Off CP-300 Press the ON/OFF button until the indicator goes off . CP-200 Unplug the cable of the compact po wer adapter from the printer . (Th e indicator will go off) 3 Insert the plug in a power outlet.
28 Printing This section e xplains the flow of printing operations. F or more details, ref er to y our Camer a User Guide . 1 T urn the camera’ s power on and displa y the images. • Check that the (Direct Print) mark is displa yed i n the upper left corner of the LCD monitor .
29 Battery Usage Using the Battery P ack (CP-300 Onl y) With the CP-300, you can use the recharg eable batter y pack (Batter y P ack NB- CP1L) to print. The battery pack can either be charged in the printer or with the separ ately sold batter y charger (include d with th e Batter y/Charge Adapter Kit BCA-CP100).
30 Char ging the Batter y P ac k with the Battery Charger Use the separately sold battery charger (included with the Batter y/Charge Adapter Kit BCA-CP100) to charge the batter y pac k NB-CP1L before attaching it to the printer . 5 Connect the compact power adapter cable to the printer .
31 4 Connect the compact power adapter cable to the c harge adapter . • The charge indicator lights oran ge while charging and turns green once the batt er y pack is fully charged. • Disconnect the cabl e from the charge adapter once charging is complete and detach the battery pack fro m the charge adapter .
32 • When the battery pac k is used to pow er the printer , the printer will automatic ally turn off if it is idle f or 5 minutes or more. • This is a lithium ion battery pack so there is no nee d to completely use or discharge it be fore rechargi ng.
33 Battery Status If battery status is r unning down while the printer is connected to the camera, the camera’ s LCD monitor ma y displa y the f ollowing message. Battery P erformance T est conditions: Normal temper ature (23 o C/73 o F), Canon images , contin uous print.
34 T r oubleshooting If the printer does not seem to be working properly , run through the chec ks below to see if you can ident ify and correct the problem. If you are not able to solve the problem, please call your dealer or contact a Canon Cu stomer Suppor t help desk for assistance .
35 The printer’ s indicator ligh ts red without the camera’ s LCD monitor displaying any error message. There is a malfunction in the printer . Remove the paper from the paper -handling slot and take up any slack in the ink sheet. T urn the printer’ s power off and turn it on again.
36 Error Messages If a problem occurs while the pr inter is connected to the camera, the printer’ s indicator will light or b link red and the camera ’ s LCD monitor ma y displa y one of the messages indicated belo w . (If the camera is connected to a TV , the message will appear on the TV screen.
37 Communication Error Error in communication between printer and camera. T urn the printer’ s power off and turn it on again. If the error message does not clear , contact a Canon Custo mer Support help desk for assistance.
