V entilation IMPORT ANT – The unit will become hot when in use. Do not stack multiple units on top of each other . Do not place in an enclosed area such as a bookcase or in a cabinet without sufcient ventilation. Ensure that small objects do not fall thr ough any v entilation grille.
Rear panel connections 1 Po wer On/Off Switches the unit on and off. This product has APD (A uto P ow er Down) enabled as default. After inactivity of 30 minutes, the product will aut omatically switch to Standby . See later section f or further details.
6 F ront panel controls Vo lume Bass Tr eble Direct Mode Speaker A/B Phones Standby / On azur 85 1A Class XD Integrated Amplifier 1 Standby/On Switches the unit between Standby mode (indicated by dim power LED) and On (indicat ed by bright power LED).
85 1A azur 7 ENGLISH Remot e control The 85 1A is supplied with an Azur Navigator remot e control handset that duplicat es the front panel control functions and is also able t o contr ol Azur CD players and in par ticular the matching 85 1C. The supplied AAA batteries must be tted bef ore the remot e control can be used.
8 Connections When designing our ampliers we include f eatures that allow y ou to connect your syst em in various wa ys. The inclusion of f eatures such as Pre-Out and Speak er B connections mean that you can e xibly congure your syst em depending on your requirements.
85 1A azur 9 ENGLISH Balanced audio connections (Source 1 and 2) The diagram below shows how to connect the 85 1A t o the Azur 85 1C Upsampling CD player/D AC using the Balanced Audio inputs via three- pin XLR connectors. The 85 1A can also be connected to non-Cambridge Audio sour ces with balanced outputs.
10 The 85 1A features many adv anced settings that allow it’s use t o be customised to user preference. The inputs can be named to reect the actual source units you have, each input can be trimmed so that each sounds the same in terms of loudness when y ou switch between them and other options.
85 1A azur 11 ENGLISH Fixed le vel inputs Any input of the 85 1A is able to be set for xed gain. Whenever this input is selected the gain will aut omatically go to this value and will not be adjustable by the v olume control. This f eature allows the 85 1A to be effectively used as a stereo power amplier (for that select ed input only).
12 Cambridge Audio has developed a proprietary prot ection system to ensure reliability and a long life for its ampliers and the speakers they are connect ed to. Note: Due to the req uired sensitivity of the CAP5 system, it is possible that mains power disturbances can falsely trigger CAP5 in extreme situations.
