3 MAKIN G WIRIN G CONNECTIONS 4. Insert the wir e from the unit t hrough the hole as shown. 6. Use electr ical t ape to wr ap. Be sur e to cover t he wire about two inches on eit her side of the connection. First pull t he wire t hat you ha v e just connected along side t he wire you connected to, tape and wire tie t hem toget her.
4 4. Use electr ical t ape to wr ap, be sur e to cover about 2 inches on eit her side of connection. Secur e with wir e ties as sho wn. 3. Lay upper twisted pair of wir es o ver r ight wir e as shown. Bring lower twist ed pair of wir es up to meet t he lef t wire as shown.
5 A CCESSOR Y WIRE(S) THA T POWER THE HEA TER/BLO WER MOTOR (+12V in run or on positions) This wire is also in t he main ignition switch harness usually located in the st eer ing column. Make all connections as close to t he ignition switch har ness as possible.
6 ANTENNA PLA CEMENT E MODEL REMOTE ST ARTERS Run the antenna up t he windshield pillar on the dr iv er’s side and acr oss the top of t he windshield to the cent er, behind t he rearview mir ror. Use t he antenna clips provided to hold it in place. Be sur e t o e xpose the full length of t he clear antenna.
7 CONNECTIN G THE 1 8-PIN HARNESS & 4-REL A Y HARNESS F A CTOR Y ANTI- THEFT S YSTEMS FOR GENERAL MOTORS CARS ONL Y Syst em 1 : P ASSKEY I and II sy stem (1985 and up). This system has a r esistor pill in t he ke y . Measure r esistance of the pill using a test me ter.
8 (-) Neg ative Dome Light T ype (All other v ehicles) Connect the VIOLET wir e from the 18-pin harness t o the WHITE wir e on the op tional #775 r ela y har ness. Connect the BL A CK wire on t he op tional r elay to +12V constant fused at 5 amps. Connect the BLUE wir e to gr ound.
9 HORN HONK OUTPUT (-) (Op tional part #775) The existing hor n wir e will usuall y be found in the main ignition switch har ness in the st eering column. Probe for a wir e which will r emain neutr al (in some cases ma y sho w a (+) positiv e). When the hor n is pressed t his wire will t est as a ground or (-) neg ative.
CONNECTING “T YPE B LOCKS” • If your vehicle has a “ T ype B ” door loc king system, connect the GREEN WITH BL A CK STRIPE wire from the 18-pin harness to t he door lock wire. Connect t he BR O WN WITH BLA CK STRIPE wire to t he unlock wir e.
11 INST ALL A TION PR OGRAMMING: Programming Tach/T achless S tart Pr ess and hold the br ak e, then pr ess and hold Button #3 (trunk) until the parking lights f lash thr ee (3) times. R elease Button #3. Press and r elease Button #4, t he parking lights will flash once.
12 NOTE : Onl y Cold and Hot S tart functions can be enabled at the same time. If button #1 is pr essed for programming, Cold/Ho t St art is disabled. When Buttons #2 and #3 ar e pressed, t hen the Automatic and Lo w V oltage S tarts are disabled.
1 3 Ke y less Entry Operation Pr ess button #2 (lock/unlock), the par king lights will flash once and t he doors will lock. Pr ess button #2 again, the par king lights will flash twice, the door s will unlock, and t he parking lights will r emain on for one minute or until you turn t he ignition on or pr ess the br ak e.
