Introd uction 5 Fire Det ectio n This NT 9005 co ntroller is cap able of mo nito ring fire detect ion device s such as smoke de tectors and providi ng a war nin g if a fire condition is dete cted. Good fire detectio n depend s on havin g an ade quate num ber of de tectors p laced in appro- priate locations.
6 Section 2: Using Y our NT9005 System Operating the System from the NT9005 Contr oller The NT 9005 controller provides a large, ea sy to unders tand LCD to help you to use your syst em. Y ou ca n check the cur rent status of your system b y viewing the LC D.
7 Section 3: T urning Y our System On (Arming) and Of f (Disarming) This se ction de scribes ho w to tu rn your syst em on and off. Read t his se ction care- fully . Tu r n i n g O n Y our System 1. Before you tur n on your sys tem, ma ke sure that it is Re ady .

12 Exiting When the System is On (Quick Exit) Y our install er will tell you i f the Quick Exit fea ture will work on your s ystem. Y ou can use the Quic k Exit featu r e to leave the pr emi ses whi le the sys tem is on , with- out having t o tur n your s ystem off and on again .
13 Section 4: Dealing With Alarms and Emergencies Read t his sectio n carefully so that you will k now what to do if your syste m goes into ala rm. If you return to y our premises and the siren is on, contact the local author- ities from a nearby safe location.
14 Intrusion (Burglary) Alarms A stea dy sir en means an i ntrus ion al arm. T o silence th e alarm: 1. Enter your [access code]. 2. If the a larm was unintent ional, call your centra l statio n immedia tely to avo id an unnec essary response. 3. Check t he alar m memory to se e which zon e caused the alarm .
15 Section 5: Using Advanced Functions This se ction de scribes how to perform more speciali zed funct ions: tu rni ng off spe- cific detect ors (bypa ssing zone s), tur ning the doo r chime on or off, checki ng sys- tem troubles, a nd testi ng your sys tem.

E xper iments with typical fi res in homes indica te that detectable quan tities of sm oke pr ecede detec table leve ls of heat in most cas es.
24 Section 9: Replacing Batteries F r om time to time, the batteries in the detectors and other componen ts of your system will need to be cha nged. If a device h as a lo w battery , your sy stem w ill dis play a troubl e me s- sage (see Checking T r ouble Conditions on page 16 ).
