Hub Phone 1020 – Issue 3 – Edition 1 – 05.10.07.07 – 8423 There is an option within the Hub manager to set incoming landline calls (from your standard phone number) to ring on your Hub Phone. Go to http://bthomehub.home and change your settings on the t elephones page.
T o see BT Br oadband T alk call charges: visit www .bt.com/broadbandtalk and go to the ‘what it costs’ section. Y ou can make outgoing calls using your standar d phone line number by dialling 5 and then the number you want to call.
Hi Def calls Y our BT Hub phone is designed with High Definition Sound (Hi-dS™) capability . If somebody using a BT Hub Phone (or other Hi-dS™ capable device) calls someone else using a Hi-dS ™ capable device, then the call will automatically set itself to the best call quality using the Hi-dS™ call quality feat ure.
If yo u als o hav e a videophone or BT Soft Phone associated with your BT Br oadband T alk number you can also use them to make simultaneous calls up to a t otal of 4 calls across all your BT Br oadband T alk phones.
Call quality Usual call quality using B T Broadband T alk should be better than on a mobile phone, but it can be affect ed by general congestion on the internet, or by heavy traffic on the br oadband link into your home (e.g. if someone in your home is playing games online).

23 Emergency Location Inf ormation is captured and passed to the Emergency Services for use in the case of an emergency call being made via the ser vice. The location information captured is limit ed to the address of the BT t elephone line. Impor tant: if there’ s a power failure, your B T Hub Phone and/or DECT cordless phone will not work.

Stor e a phonebook entr y Y ou can use the phonebook to store up t o 150 entries. For each entry you can store a name together with home, work and mobile numbers. Stor ed numbers can be up to 20 digits and stored names up to 12 char acters long. Phonebook entries are stored alphabetically .

Naming a handset Each handset registered t o the base is assigned a number . Y ou can give a handset a name to match the user or location e.g. DAVE or OFFICE . The name can be up to 8 charact ers long. The number is given automatically and cannot be changed.
48 Hub Phone 1020 – Issue 3 – Edition 1 – 05.10.07.07 – 8423 Auto-talk When you receive a call, if the handset is on the cr adle you can answer it by lifting the handset off the cradle, this is called auto-talk. When you switch auto-talk off , all calls mus t be answered by pr essing .

Y ou can select a diff erent ring tone for external calls (calls fr om an external incoming number) or internal calls (calls from another handset).

Time settings 56 Setting the time Y ou can set the time in your Hub, so that all handsets show the right time: 1. Go to a computer that is connected to your Hub (wir ed or wireless) and open the Hub Manager: click the icon on your desktop or browse to http://bthomehub.
Enter the login information: username admin; password admin Click CONFIGURATION Click CONFIGURE in the horizontal menu on the right Tick the auto-configuration bo x. Under TIME SERVER 1 , type ntp.homehub.btopenworld.com Click APPLY . 5. Y our Hub is now set to the correct time.

Y ou can use up to two B T Hub phones at any one time to make calls. See page 17-21 f or more information about using the handsets with BT Br oadband T alk.

Sof tware upgr ades Automatic software upgrade Y our BT Home Hub checks r egularly for handset software upgrades. If ther e is a new version of sof tware available it will send a message to any register ed handsets needing to be upgraded.

67 67 Software upgrades R escue mode If the upgrade was unsuccessful, or if the handset was lifted from the char ger during the upgrade for mor e than 90 seconds, the user can initiate a new upgrade of the handset softwar e fr om the hub manager . T o use the rescue mode on the Hub Manager: 1.
Many common problems ar e caused by incorrect connections. Please reboot your hub by turning it on and off (from the mains) and check that your B T Hub Phone 1020 has been correctly set up befor e ringing the Helpline.
The handset charger is not working Y ou should hear a beep when placing the handset in the charger . Check that the power adaptor is properly plugged into the char ger . Make sur e your handset has slotted correctly into the charger . Check the batteries are fitted corr ectly into the handset.
What happens when I make emer gency calls? If you make an emer gency call to 999 or 112 from your BT Br oadband T alk line, the Hub will automatically use your standard telephone line. This is a saf ety measure to ensure the emer gency ser vices can identify your location, if necessar y .
Safety IMPORT ANT This equipment is not designed for making emergency telephone calls when the power fails. Alternative arrangements should be made f or access to emergency services. General • Only use the power supply included with the product. Using an unauthorised power supply will invalidate your guarantee and may damage the telephone.
