3 FURNA CE COMPONENTS 2 Heavy-duty blower circulates air across the heat exchanger to transfer heat into the home. Stainless steel combustion chamber/primary heat exchanger. Unique silencer system reduces combustion noise. Heat exchanger designed and shaped to effi- ciently transfer heat from furnace into the home.
4 IMPOR T ANT F A CTS Y our furnace must hav e adequate air fl o w for ef fi cient combustion and safe ventilation. Do not enclose it in an airtight room or “ seal ” it behind solid doors.
5 CHECK AIR FILTER: Before attempting to start your furnace, be sure the furnace air fi lter is clean and in place. See “ Performing Rou- tine Maintenance ” section in this manual. Then proceed as follo ws: STEPS F OR STAR TING Y OUR FURNACE 1. Open all warm air re gisters and make sure that all return-air grills are unobstructed.

If furnace blo wer will be neces- sary for cooling system, remem- ber to turn electric po wer back on when needed for air condi- tioning.
7 • Check fl ue and secondary tube pas- sage ways including chimne y — clean if necessary . • Change oil fi lter . • Change nozzle. • Check and adjust comb ustion and draft. • Inspect all v ent piping inside struc- ture for deterioration and v ent termi- nations outside the structure for blockage.
