Telephone services and external devi ces 65 7 NOTE Ring Patte rn #1 is often called Short -Short and is the most commonly used. If the rin g patt ern you received is not on thi s ch art, call your telephone company and ask for one that is shown . The machi ne will onl y answer calls to it s regi s ter ed number.

However, when you have an external TAD on the same t elephone line as the machine, the TAD ans wers al l calls and the machine “list ens” for fax calli ng (CNG) tones.

Your m achi ne cannot work correc tly if you plug th e TAD into a wall jack (un less you are using Dist inctive Ring) . a Using both hands , use the finger hold s on eac h side o f the machine to l ift the scanner co v e r into the ope n posi tion.
Telephone services and external devi ces 69 7 Multi-line connections (PBX) 7 We suggest you ask the company who installed your PBX to connect your machine. If you have a multi-line s ystem, we suggest you ask the i nstaller to connect the uni t to the last li ne o n the system.
Chapter 7 70 Using ext erna l and ex tens ion teleph ones 7 Usin g extension teleph ones If you answer a fax call at an exten sion tele phone, you can make your mac hine recei ve the fax by pressing the Fax Receive Code l 51 .
