Chapter 1 6 Set tings s creen 1 When you pr ess ( Settings ), the Touchs creen LCD displays the machine’s stat us. This s c reen pro vides access to all the machi ne’s settings. 1 Mainten ance Press to ac cess the Maintenance me nu . Check and impr ove the print qualit y, clean the print head and check t he av ailable ink volume.

8 2 Before loading pape r 2 Load only one si z e of paper and o ne type of paper in the paper tra y at a time. W hen lo ading a di fferent pape r s ize i n the tray, y o u must also c hange the paper size setting in t he machi ne. (See Se t Pa pe r Size and Type on page 13.

Chapter 2 10 g Check that the paper is flat in the tray and below the maxi mum paper mark (1 ). Overfill ing the paper t ray may cause paper jams. h Close the output paper tray c o ver. i Slowly push the paper tray complet ely into t he machine. j Pull out the paper su pport (1) until it locks into place, and then unfold the paper support flap (2).

Loading pa per 13 2 NOTE • If the data will not fit on one sheet, the Touchs cr een w ill prom pt you to lo ad another s heet of paper. Place another sheet of paper in t he m anual f eed slot, and then pres s OK on the T ouc hscreen.
Chapter 2 14 C heck P ap er se tti ng 2 If the check paper set ting is set to On , the machi ne displays a message asking if you want to change t he pap er type and paper s ize sett ing. This message will appear each t ime you pull the tray out of the machine.

Instal l the s canner driv ers from t he CD-ROM . (See Quick Setup Guid e.) Configu re the mach ine with a TCP/IP addre s s if network sca nning does not work.

28 Cannot Detect You instal led a new ink cartridge t oo quickly and t he mac hine did not detect it. Take ou t the new i nk cartridge and reinstall it slo wly and fi rmly until the c art ri dg e le ver lif ts. (See Onli ne User ’s Guide.) An ink cartridge i s not insta lled cor r ectl y.

Image Too Sm all The s ize of y our photo is too small to trim. Choos e a lar ger image. Ink Absor ber P ad Fu ll The ink a bsorber box or flu shing box is full.
30 Ink Low One o r more of the ink c artridges are near th e end of t heir life. If one of the colour ink cartridges is ne ar the end of it s life. Order a new ink car tridge. Yo u can continue printi ng u ntil the Touchscreen displays Cannot Print . (See Onli ne User ’s Guide.
Troubleshooti ng 31 B No Paper Fed The mac hine is out of paper , or pa per is not co rrectly loaded i n th e paper tray. Do one o f the fol lowing: Refill t he paper tr ay, and the n press OK o n the Touc hscreen. Rem ove and relo ad the p aper, then press OK on th e Touch screen.
32 Paper Tray not detected The pape r tray is not com pletely inser ted. Slowly push th e paper tray completely i nto the mac hine. Jammed paper or a fo reign object has prevented th e paper tray f rom bein g inserted properly . Pull the paper tray out of the machin e and remove the p aper or foreign object.
Troubleshooti ng 33 B Wrong Paper The paper size setti ng does not match the size of pa per in th e tray. 1 Check that the pap er size you choose on th e To uchscreen matches the size of the paper in the tray. (See Set P aper Si ze and T ype on page 13.
