Note W hen you u s e Legal s i ze paper, press and h old the un iversal guide release button as you slide ou t the front of the paper t ray.
Chapter 2 18 g Slowly push the paper tray completely into the machine. h While holding the paper tray in place, pull out t he paper support (1) until it clicks and unfold the paper support fl ap (2). Note Do not use the paper support flap for Legal paper.

Note If the envelopes or post cards are ‘double- feedi ng,’ p ut one envelope or post card in the paper tray at a time.
Chapter 2 20 Load ing ph oto pape r 2 Note In C anada the p hoto bypass tray is called the photo paper tray . Use t he photo bypass tray, which has been assem bl ed on the top of the output p aper tray cover, to print on photo 4" × 6" and pho t o L 3.
Loading doc uments and paper 21 2 Rem oving s mall pr intout s fr om th e mac hine 2 W hen the m achine ejects small paper onto the out put pap er tray you may not be able to reach it. Make sure printing has finish ed, and then pull the t ray completely out of the machine.
Chapter 2 22 Print abl e Area 2 The printable area depend s on the settings in the application you are using. The figures below show the unprintable area s on cut sheet paper and envel opes. The machi ne c a n o nly print i n the shade d area s when the B orderless print feature is available and turned on.

The ink do t counter au tomatically monitors t he level of ink in eac h of t he 4 cartridges. Wh en t he m achine detects an ink cartridge is running out of ink, the machine will tell you with a m essage on the LCD .

74 Brother s t rongl y rec ommends that you do not refill the ink c art ridges provided with your machine. We also strongly recommend t hat y ou cont inue to use only Genuine Brother Bran d rep lacement ink cartridges.
