ASSEMBL Y 7 BEFORE ST AR TING THE ENGINE Add Engine Oil • Place generator on a lev el surface. • Use a long neck funnel when adding or changing oil. • Refer to engine operator’ s manual and follow oil recommendations and instructions. NO TE: Check oil often during engine break–in.
OPERA TION 8 USING THE GENERA T OR System Gr ound The generator has a system ground that connects the generator frame components to the ground terminals on the A C output receptacles. The system ground is connected to the A C neutral wire (see “Equipment Description”, earlier in this manual).
OPERA TION 9 OPERA TING THE GENERA T OR Star ting the Engine Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator . Follow these start instruction steps in numerical order : 1. Mak e sure unit is on a le vel surface. IMPOR T ANT : Failure to start and operate unit on a level surface will cause the unit not to start or shut down during operation.
OPERA TION 10 Stopping the Engine 1. T urn off and unplug all electrical loads from generator panel receptacles. NEVER start or stop engine with electrical devices plugged in and turned on. 2. Let engine run at no–load for 30 seconds to stabilize internal temperatures of engine and alternator .
OPERA TION 11 DON'T O VERLO AD GENERA T OR Capacity Y ou must mak e sure y our generator can supply enough rated (running) and surge (starting) watts for the items you will pow er at the same time . Follow these simple steps: 1. Select the items you will po wer at the same time.
