– 3 – Specifications Thank you! Thank you for selecting the Boston Acoustics VRi in-w all sub- woofer . Y our subwoofer has been designed to deliver y ears of stun- ning audio performance . Please keep your manual in a safe place in case you need to refer to it later .
Installation Tips It is the nature of low-frequency energy (bass) to cause objects to vibrate . Care should be taken in planning the installation of an in- wall sub woofer to minimize the risk of room vibration and noise . Some bass energy will be heard and felt in the room behind the installation.
W all Dampening Performance of y our VRi Sub- woofer can be enhanced if the w all cavity is filled with standard fiber- glass insulation. If there is already insulation and it has a paper back- ing facing the speaker , remove the backing in the area behind the speaker .
Required Clearances Behind the mounting surface there must be 1 1 / 2 -inches of clearance on either of the long sides. [see diagram below] W all Thickness With the supplied hardware , the subw oofers can be installed into walls with a surface thickness of 1 / 2 to 1 1 / 4 -inches.
– 7 – Installation Instructions W ARNING Always turn off the SA1 P ower Amplifier when connecting the sub- woofer , speakers , or any other compo- nents to the system.
– 8 – All Installations 1. Strip 1 / 2 -inch of insulation from the wire and twist the wire strands together . The VRi Subw oofer jack will accept either bare wire up to 12-gauge or single banana plugs. 2. Connect the wire to the sub- woofer . 3. Slide the subwoofer into the cutout as shown.
– 9 – Painting The Subwoofer Frame The subw oofer may be painted before or after it is installed. It is already primed. 1. Insert the supplied paint mask into the frame of the subw oofer. [See diagram below .] 2. Paint the frame. If y ou are using spray paint, apply tw o light coats.
Listening Levels Power Handling The SA1 Po wer Amplifier is designed to be the perfect compan- ion to the VRiSub82. Care should be taken in setting the crossov er fre- quency and volume lev el so that you operate the s ystem in a way that does not produce distortion.
