12 1 Getting Started 1.1 Install the (U)SIM Card The (U)SIM card (Universal S ubscriber In terface Mod ule) is the small plastic chi p with gol d contact s supplied by T elstra. Thi s cont ains your p hone numbe r and act s as a sto re for y our contact s.
13 1.2 Insert the Battery Remove the back cover by pres sing gently and sliding dow n. Insert the battery care fully with the cont acts l ocated again st the gold s prings. The battery will only fit o ne way . Close the case by loca ting the plast ic cover int o the grooves a nd sliding the cov er up to close it.
14 1.3 Switch the Phone on and Connect the Charger Press and ho ld the key for tw o seconds to switch your phone on. The phone t akes about 16 seco nds to initi alize.
15 1.4 Charging and Battery life • Only use the charger sup plied. • Normal charge time is 2-3 hours. • When not using th e phone for a long period remove the battery and store it in a cool dry place. • Do not leave th e phone con nected to the charger for extended periods of time eg > 24 hrs.

17 Select Keys The two key s at the top of the key pad are called the Sele ct Key s . The lef t and right Select Keys are used to choose the options from the bottom o f the screen.
18 1.6 Enter your Contacts There are s everal metho ds availabl e to enter contact s into your phon e. The Gett ing S tarted Section deals w ith adding your cont act s manually and copy ing conta ct s from a previous SIM card. See th e Advanced S ection for a dding cont acts from your PC and importi ng conta cts from Microsof t Outlook.
19 Add a contact from a received or di alled call number Y ou can save a new cont act from an incoming or d ialled cal l number: • Press the key to bring up your Call List • The last call w ill be.
20 1.7 Edit your Contacts to Change Ringtones and Groups Once you h ave added some cont acts you can e dit them to change th e Group an d to set a personalised R ing T one. • Contacts are normally stored in the default Grou p, Unclassi fied. • Y ou can move your contact s into other Group s: Mates, Fami ly , Friends, Work, and VIP .
21 1.8 Set Speed Dials Once you h ave entered some cont acts y ou can assign speed di al keys to y our chosen contact s: • Press Do wn A rrow Key to enter the Contact s menu. • Use the Arrow K eys to scroll t o the contact y ou wish to assi gn a S peed Dial Num ber .
22 1.9 Make a Call Dial the number manually • If required press the * k ey twice for the Internat ional Pr efix ‘+’. • Enter the number on the k eypad a nd press th e key to make the call. • When the call is conn ected you c an press th e OK Key for Handsfree mode.
23 Choose a number from y our call list (incoming, outg oing and missed calls) • Press the key to bring up your call list. • U se the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll t o the des ired number (l ast number re dial select the top number ). • Press the key to make th e call.
24 1.10 Receive a Voice Call When you receiv e a voice call , the ring tone, il lumination and v ibrate function w ill activate (depending on your current profile setting).
25 1.11 Send an SMS (Text Message) From the Idle Scr een press the Right Arrow Key to open the Mes sages Menu: • Press the OK Key to select New Message.

33 1.15 Using File Manager All user files an d dow nload ed conte nt ar e st ored i n the File Manager section of the hand set. This cont ains Pict ures, W allpapers (back ground scre ens), Audio F iles, Ringt ones, V ideos, V oice and Vi deo recordin gs and Oth ers.
34 1.16 Make a Video Call • Y ou need good quality 3G coverag e to make a nd receiv e video calls. • Ente r the phone number us ing the keypad or fro m your Contacts list. • Press the OK Key then select Vide o ca ll to make a v ideo call. • Press to end the cal l.
35 1.17 Receive a Video Call Y ou will only be able t o receiv e a video call when y ou have good 3G coverage w ith at leas t 3 signal bars. If y ou are browsing or pl aying video or audi o files then the brow ser or media player will be suspended in the backgr ound whil e you answ er the video cal l.
36 1.18 Set Alarms and Appointments Set Alar ms From the main menu se lect T ools then scroll dow n to the Alar m menu and press OK . • Press A dd to create a new alarm • In the A larm Setup s creen config ure your alarm as required • Daily Alarm goes off every day .
37 Set Appointments through the C ale ndar The Calendar is available through the T ools menu. Use the Calendar to set app ointments and remind er s. • From the Idle Screen press OK for the main menu. • Go to T ools then scr oll down to t he Calendar menu.
38 1.19 Send an E-mail • From the Idle Screen press the Left Arrow Ke y to get to the Email men u. • Press Select t o create a n ew Email. • Enter the sender addre ss e. g. us ername@domain .com • Press the down arrow to ac cess the Copy T o Field.
39 1.20 Take Pictures and Videos Y our phone has tw o cameras for still and video pict ures. The main camera is on t he back and the video camera is on the front to face y ou when make a v ideo call.
40 Mak e V ideos From the Main Me nu go down t o Multimedia an d press OK to sel ect. • Go down to option 2) for V ideo Camera. Press OK to Record your v ideo. • Press Options to change any of the follow ing Settings : ¾ The default length of the video i s only 15 seconds.
41 1.21 Send a Multimedia Message (MMS) When you se nd a Multimedia Me ssage you c an att ach a pictur e, music or video file. • From the Idle Screen press the Right A rrow Key to acce ss the mes sages menu. • Press OK to create a new message. • Press the down arrow to access M ultimedia message and press OK to Sel ect.
42 1.22 Browse the Internet using Telstra My Place The internet enables you to search and find us eful and f un informatio n and to enhance y our phone by dow nloading ringtones, pic tures, mov ie clips, videos an d games. Press the Te l s t r a K e y or press the OK key twice to access th e My Place me nu.
43 1.23 Download Music, Pictures, Ringtones and Games There are v arious way s to enhance your p hone by download ing conte nt from the intern et. The Bigpond D ow nloads section is free to look at so you ca n ea sily see w hat is on of fer . The downloads ar e regularly updated by T elstra.
44 1.24 Use your Phone as a Music Player (MP3 Player) Once you hav e downloaded m usic or import ed it from y our PC (see 2.4) y ou can play your own music on your phone.

47 1.26 Use T-Flash card Y ou can increase the memory of the phone by addin g a T–Flash c ard and u se it to copy fil es to and from y our PC to y our handset. Insert T - Flash: • Open the T -Flash por t cover on the base of the pho ne • Handle the card by the edges and c arefully insert the card w ith the label side up.
48 Use a T -Flash card ad apter to co py files: Y ou can use an ex ternal USB card ada pt er to ac cess the T -Flash ca rd u sing a PC. • Insert the T -Flash card i n the adapte r and put t he adapter in the USB equ ipment. • Insert the USB equipment into the PC • Access the T -Flash on t he PC and c opy dat a between T -Flash and th e PC.
49 2 Advanced Operation 2.1 Use Join Me to Connect your Phone to your PC Join Me is a PC appli cation th at enables y ou to connect your ph one to y our PC.
50 2.2 Installing Join Me Please inst all Join Me from the CD b efore connec ting your p hone to your PC. • Insert the CD provided into y our PC. • Th e CD should auto -s tart after a few seconds. • The installation shield will launch and guide y ou through the install set up.
51 2.3 Use Join Me to Copy your Pictures to your PC If you have t aken some photos on your pho ne you can tran sfer them ont o your PC usi ng Join Me: • Make sure y our phone i s switched on and connecte d to your PC , and Join Me has been install ed.
52 1. Open the Media T ab in Join Me 2. Open the My Pictures folder on My Phone down the bott om of the screen. 3. Drag the pic ture from the file li st up to a folder on your PC.
53 2.4 Use Join Me to Copy Music Files from your PC to your Phone If you hav e MP3 files on y our PC you can transfer t hem onto your phone using Join Me. • Make sure y our phone i s switched on and conne cted to your P C, and Join Me has been install ed.

55 2.5 Enter your Contacts using Join Me Y ou can use Join Me to ente r new cont acts into your p hone. . On the phone book tab you can enter your contacts directly using the PC.
