2 Chapter 1 Int roduct ion 1.1 Welcome ZEW3002 i s fully com pliant w ith IEEE802 .11g/b standard s. It can hel p you extend fr om the wired network to the wi reless network, free fr om the cabling troubles. It i s the best choice for SOHO and small enterprise users.
3 Chapter 2 Hardware Installati on 2.1 Panel Layout 2.1.1 The Top Panel The top panel of ZEW3002 consists of several LE D indicators. Name Action Descripti on OFF No Power Power ON Power on ON ZEW3002.
4 2.1.2 The Rear Panel The rear panel contains the foll owing features. (Viewed fr om left to right) 1. Power Jack onl y use the power adap ter appli ed with ZEW30 02 to prevent damage 2. One LAN 10/10 0Mbps RJ45 port for connecting to t he router/modem, l ocal PC or switch/hub .
5 2.4 Hardware Connection Note: Before connecting ZEW3002, be sure to power o ff your compute r, DSL/Cable modem, and ZEW3002. To achieve m aximum wirel ess coverage, tilt the AP’s antenna outwa rd at 45° angle.
6 Chapter 3 Configure your comput er 3.1 TCP/IP Address Setting Default IP A ddress: 192.1 68.0.254 Default Subnet Ma sk: 255.2 55.255.0 1. Click Start Sett ings Co ntrol Panel 2.
7 3. Choose Local Area Connectio n , ri ght-click on the icon, choose Properties Local Area Connecti on Properties In ternet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties . 4. Choose Use the fo llowing IP address , enter the IP address as: 192 .168.0.xxx.
8 Chapter 4 Configure your ZEW3 002 4.1 Log in ZEW3002 pr ovides Web based confi guration scheme, whi ch i s, configuring by Netscape Communi cator or Internet Ex plorer. Take exam ple for Mi crosoft Internet Expl orer. 1. Open an Internet Explorer (or other w eb browser), t ype 192 .
9 4.2 Wizard Click Next from the welcome s creen to enter setup Wizard. There are fiv e different oper ating modes includi ng — AP , WDS P2 P Bridge, WDS P2MP Bri dge, WDS AP R e peater and Client. F or different requirements, you can se l ect one of the suitable operating modes.

11 4.3 System Status Click Refresh button to update the l inking info. • P roduct information: D ispla y current firmware version, MAC Address, LAN IP Address, subnet mask, Gateway etc. • Radio Status: Curr ent mode, SSID , RF mode, Channel a nd Encryption mode etc.
12 4.4 LAN Setting • Static: to assi gn a stati c or fix ed IP address to ZEW300 2, select thi s opti on and enter the specifi ed IP address, Subnet m ask, and Gatew ay • DHCP Client: if the router will automatically assign an IP address to ZEW3002, then select this op tion.
13 Chapter 5 Radio Conf iguration 5.1 Basic Setting Click App ly to sav e your setti ngs, or click Help for more informati on. • SSID: t he name of your wireless network. • SSID Broadcast: Enabl e/disable the S SID broadcast • RF Mode: Sel ects 802.
14 5.2 Mode Setting The default opera ting mode is AP mode. 5.2.1 AP mode In this mode, ZEW3002 will act as a central hu b for different wireless LAN clients. For exampl e, when trav eling to a hote l that has high-speed internet a ccess, you can connect to the i nternet through ZEW300 2 which is connected to an Ether net cable in the room.

17 5.2.3 WDS P2MP Bridge A ZEW3002 o per ating in Point -to-Multi point (P2MP) bridge mode wirelessly connects two or more wired networks. The root ZEW3002 (LAN1) oper at es in P 2MP mode, while other ZEW3002 (LAN2, LAN3) must oper ate i n P2P mode. When oper ating in P2MP bridg e mode, ZEW3002 d oes not allow cli ent associations.
18 Click App ly to sav e your settin gs. • SSID: The name of your wi reless network. • Channel: The oper ati ng channel • WDS r emote AP List: M AC addresses of the P2P Bridge that are connected to this P2MP Bridge. Up to six M AC addresses can be entered.
19 5.2.4 WDS AP Repeater A repeat er i s placed between an AP and a client to e xtend the distance between the two WLAN d evices. Functioni ng as a WDS repeater , ZEW30 02 connects to both a client card as an A P and to another AP .

21 5.2.5 Client mode When Client mode is selected, ZEW3002 associates with another AP within its r ange. The device beha ves lik e a wireless networ k adapter . Figure below shows the Client mode ZEW30 02 as a wireless client in infr astructure mode. Connect the LAN port of the ZEW30 02 with Ethern et int erface of the wired network.

27 Chapter 7. Troublesh ooting ● If you have tr ouble connecting to the Internet, t ry the foll owing steps. 1. Power of f the Cable/DSL modem , ZEW3002 , and comput er and wait for 5 mi nutes. 2. Turn on the Cable/DSL modem an d wait for the light s on to settle d own.
