Most applications require the spindle to be in the normal positi on. The low tension position is reco mmended only wh en a narrow ribbon is used or if normal tension hampers the ribbo n movement.

Set the ribbon suppl y spindle for normal o r low tension. • T o place the ribbon supply spindle in the normal position , firmly pul l out th e spindle end cap until it extends and cl icks in place, as shown in Figure 20 .

At the same time, turn the ribbo n take-up spindle release knob counterclockwise ( 2 ). The tension blades collapse into th e ribbon take-up spindl e, loosening the ribbon .

During auto cal ibration, th e printer determines the label length and se nsor settings.
