5 Operating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and connection instruc - tions” . • If the appliance is delivered in the winter months when ther e are minus temperatur es: store the washing machine at r oom temperature for 24 hours before using for the first time.
6 Disposal 2 Packaging material The packaging materials are environmentally friendly and can be recyc led. The plastic com- ponents are identi fied by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the packaging materials in the appr opriate container at your local waste disposal facilities.

10 Prior to using for the first time Switching on the appliance for the first time - setting the language The display is set to English as standar d in the facto- ry . 3 Important! If the display does not show the menu for setting the language when the appli- ance is switched on, the appliance has been switched on before.
11 Cleaning the machine prior to first use In order to remove any residues fr om the drum and water container which may have been left during manufacturing, perform the first wash cycle without any washing in the machine. Progr amme: COTTONS 60 °C, option VERY SHOR T, add approx.
12 Adding detergent / conditioner Important: Only use deter gents/conditioners that are suita ble for use in household washing machines. Add deterg ent/conditioner in accordance with the deter gent/conditioner manuf acturer’ s instructions. Observe instructions on the packaging.
13 Switching on the appli- ance/selecting a pr o- gramme Select the programme us ing the programme knob. 3 When you select a programme, you switch the appliance on at the same time. – The display lights up and shows the programme set, the curr ent time and the estimated end of the cycle.
14 Setting options Options can be added to a wash cycle that has al- ready bee n selected. Press the OPTIONS key . The display shows the sym- bols for the options. . 3 Only the options that can be combined with the cycle that has alr eady been set are shown in the display .
15 Extra Rinse, Pr ewash, Intensive, Quick Ir on 1. Press the OPTIONS key repeatedly until the de- sired symbol flashes, e. g., EXTRA RINSE. (With each press of the key , the next symbol flashes – moving from left to right.) 2. Press the CHANGE key .
16 Delay Start 1. Press t he OPT IONS key repeatedly , until the DE- LA Y ST ART symbol flashes. 2. Press the CHANGE key . A black bar appears under the DELA Y ST ART symbol , “Start in 30 min” is shown in the display . Press the CHANGE key re- peatedly , until the display shows the desired period by which you want to delay the start, e.
17 Interrupting a pr ogramme/ Adding washing Interrupting a progr amme • The pr ogramme can be interrupted at any ti me by p r e s s i n g t h e S T A R T / P A U S E k e y . I t i s t h e n r e - s t a r t - ed by pressing the key again. • T o stop the washing machine before the pr o- gramme has ended, turn the programme knob to OFF.
18 Settings Settings are special functions that r emain perma- nently stored inde pendent of each washing cycle – even after the appliance ha s been switched off. Memory 1, 2, 3 Programme combinations can be stor ed at pro- gramme knob positions MEMOR Y 1, 2, 3 and can then be selected using the pr ogramme knob.
19 Sound The volume of the acoustic signal can be selected. 1. T ur n the programme knob to any programme and press the OPTIONS key repeat edly until the SE- TUP symbol flashes. 2. Press the CHANGE key . 3. Press the OPTIONS key r epeatedly , until SOUND is shown in the display .
20 Clock 1. T ur n the programme knob to any programme and press the OPTIONS key repeat edly until the SE- TUP symbol flashes. 2. Presss the CHANGE key . 3. Press the OP TION S key r epeatedly , until CLOCK is shown in the display . 4. Using the CHANG E key set the desired time.
21 Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut. Activating the child safety device: Use a coin to turn the knob (on the inside of the door) in a clockwise dir ect ion as far as it will go.
22 Cleaning and car e Important: Do not use fur niture cleaning pr oducts or aggressive cleaning agents to clean the appliance. Wipe over the c ontrol pa nel and housing with a damp cloth. Detergent drawer The deter gent drawer should be cleaned regularl y .
23 What to do if... Remedying small malfunc- tions If one of the following messages is displayed in the display during operation: – “No incoming water/ Check tap & Hose”, – “No drain - check drain hose/filter ” or “Pump Blo- cked”, – “Door not Closed”, please have a look at the following table.
24 If the wash r esult is not sat- isfactory The washing is grey and ther e are limes- cale deposits in the drum • T oo little deter gent was used. • An incorrect detergent wa s used. • Individual stains wer e not pre-tr eated. • The programme or temperatur e was not set prop- erly .
25 Carrying out an emergen- cy drain 1 Wa r n i n g ! Prior to carrying out an emergency drain, switch off the washing machine and r e- move the power plug fr om the power point. Wa r n i n g ! The water that comes out of the emer gency drain hose may be hot.
26 Drain pump The drain pump is maintenance-fr ee. It is only neces- sary to open the pump cover if ther e is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is block ed. Befor e loading the machine, please always ensure that ther e are no for eign bodies present in t he pock- ets or in between the items to be washed.

28 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concer ning installation • Befor e using for the first time, check the appliance for damage sustained while it was being transport- ed. Do not under any circumstance s connect an appliance that is damaged to the mains.
29 Removing the transit pack- aging Important! Be sure to r emove all the components of the transit packaging prior to using the appliance for the first time. Keep the transit packaging in a safe place, in case it is needed at a later date when the appliance is to be moved (e.
30 Wher e to install Important! The washing machine must no t be oper- ated in a room whe re ther e is a danger of fr ost. There is a risk of frost damage or adverse ef fect on the per- fomance of the machine. Frost damage is not cov- ered under the warranty .
31 Electrical Connection Any electrical work r equired to install t his appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 WARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufacturer declines any liability should these safety measur es not be observed.
32 Permanent Connection In the case of a permanent c onnection it is neces- sary that you install a do uble pole switch between the appliance and the electricit y supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the switch con- tacts and of a type suitable for the requir ed load in compliance with the curr ent electrical regula tions.
33 W ater inlet A 1.35 m long pressure hose is supplied with the ap- pliance. If a longer inlet hose is requir ed, only hoses from the manufacturer ar e to be used.
34 W ater Drainage The appliance drain hose should hook into a stand- pipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed using the plastic “U-Pi ece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see diagram) thus ensuring there is an air break be- tween the drain hose and standpipe.
35 Fitting under kitchen worktops Important: The water supply tap and power outlet must remain acc essible after the appliance is in- stalled. Permanent connection In the case of a permanent c onnecti.
