2 VOLTAGE AMPLIFIER: The voltage ampl ifier am plifies the au dio sign al?s vo ltage fro m 4.8 v olts peak (at the output of U2) to a pproxi mently 97v peak which is requir ed to drive t he current ampl ifier bo ard M100 2A.
4 5 QUIESCENT CONDITION: This desi gn is c lass A/ B and t herefor e the o utput driver trans istors must be forward biased t o provi de low cr ossover distortion. In mos t class A /B des igns, a diode ch ain or VBE m ultip lier is used to c ontrol the bias volt age and pr ovide a means of a djust ing the bi as.
6 The voltage betwee n the amplifier ?s output and tes t point 4 is appr oximate ly 14.7V DC derived from the v oltage dr op across ZD3 @ ZD4. We ca ll this voltage th e “float ing batt ery” because it floats on top of the out put audi o sign al w ith poi nt 4 always b eing 1 4.
