7 Final Clutch Adjustment To chec k the clu tch cable adju stmen t, proceed as follows. • Discon nect the spa rk plug wire an d move i t away from the spa rk plug to preven t acciden tal starti ng. • Engage an d relea se the tine eng agemen t handle , then t he reve rse ti ne engage ment l ever ( model 3 90 only).
8 Choke Lever (Model 340/390) The choke le ver i s located ab ove the th rottle con trol. It is used to en rich the fue l mixtur e when starti ng a cold engine . Se e Figu re 8. Primer Button (Mo del 345) The prime r but ton is lo cated behind the ai r clea ner.
9 • Pull rope wi th a rapid, co ntinuo us, full ar m stroke . Keep a firm grip on starte r handle. Let rope rewin d slowly. Do n ot le t start er h andle snap b ack aga inst start er. • Repeat pre ceding in structi ons 5 and 6 until engine starts.
10 Controlling Speed And Tilling Dep th • Wheel Yoke Ad justment: Plac e wheel yok e so that the whe els are forwar d (near est poin t between whee ls and t ines) for shal low tilling, cultivati ng and transpo rt. The forw ard sp eed w ill inc rease.
11 Throttle Control: The throttle contr ol lever adj usts the engine s peed and stop s the engi ne. Wit h the throttle cont rol leve r push ed comp letely for ward , the car buretor is in START pos ition. Pull ing the throttle contr ol back sligh tly adjus ts the engi ne spee d to FAST.
12 SECTION 5: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Disconn ect the spark plug wire and ground ag ainst the engine be fore performing a ny adjust ments, rep airs, or maintenance. Tine W idth Adjustme nt The tilling width of the un it is 22 i nches. See Figure 15.
13 SECTION 6: MAINTAINING YOUR TILLER Lubrication WARNING: Always stop engine and disconnect spark plug wire before cleaning, lubricating or doing any k ind of work on tiller.
