2 SPECIAL MESSAGE SECTION 92-BP This product utilizes batteries or an external power supply (adaptor). DO NOT connect this product to any power supply or adaptor other than one described in the manual, on the name plate, or specifically recommended by Yamaha.

7 Setup Correct Ta ilpiece Bad Bad Right angle ■ T uning The Silent Bass is shipped from the f actor y with the br idge in place and the strings slightly loosened.
8 • After tuning is complete, make sure that the tailpiece side of the bridge is still properly aligned. If the bridge is leaning in either direction, slightly loosen the strings and carefully re-align the bridge using both hands. Make sure that the T ail Wire is correctly positioned on top of the Saddle.
9 ■ Attaching the Frame Unit The Silent Bass is shipped from the f actor y with the F rame Unit remov ed from the main body . Please properly attach the F rame Unit using the f ollowing procedure . •M ake sure that Fixing Knobs 1-3 are tightened firmly .
10 End Pin End Pin Stopper ■ About the End Pin Loosen the end pin stopper , extend the end pin to a comf or table length f or playing and firmly tighten the end pin stopper . •M ake sure the end pin stopper is secured firml y to prevent the instrument fr om falling while you play .
11 Winding the Strings 1 Hook the ball located on the end of the string in the string hole on the tailpiece. At this time, make sure that the ball is properly inserted in the notch of the string hole. * If the ball end is bigger than the string hole, thread the string fr om the back of the tailpiece.
12 •W hen the instrument is not being used f or an extended period of time, loosen the strings. •B efore using the instrument, make sure that the bridge is positioned ver tically . Damage to the bridg e and poor sound quality may result if the bridge is not pr operly positioned.
13 Power Supply The Silent Bass can be operated with either battery or A C power . Alwa ys tur n the pow er s witch on the rear panel OFF bef ore making A C power connections or replacing the batter y . ■ Using the Battery When the battery is low , the lamp will dim and the sound ma y become distorted or noisy .
14 Connecting Exter nal Devices Silent Bass or Po wer Adaptor (Optional:P A-3B) Electric Outlet • Using the cord hook Wrap the P ower Adaptor’ s cord around the cord hook (prev ents cord from being unplugged). Po wer Adaptor Cord Cord Hook DC-IN 12V Fr om the LINE OUT jack, etc.
15 ■ A UX IN jack •T he A UX IN jack, located on the rear of the in- strument, can be used to connect an external ste- reo signal source to the Silent Bass. Connecting the audio output of a CD player , cassette player , etc. to the instrument allows you to play along with the external audio source.
16 Using the Contr ols 1 Tu rn the POWER switch on the r ear panel to its “ON” position. The Silent Bass will be powered and the lamp will light. 2 Use a cable with a standard 1/4 inch phone plug to connect the /LINE OUT jack on the rear panel to the input jack on a bass amp or pow ered speaker , etc.
