Installat ion 13 En PREP ARA TION English This section describe s a suitable installation location to install this unit using a metal wal l bracket, a rac k or a stand. Depending on your installa tion en vironment, connections with external components can be done before installing this unit.

18 En Connec tions This unit is equipped with 2 HDMI input jacks and 1 HDM I output jack. If your TV and other components hav e HDMI jacks, use HDMI cables for simpler and easier c onnections, and you can skip the conne ction procedures from page 19 to 21.
19 En Connections PREP ARA TION English For audio connection, connect the coax ial digital output jack on your D V D player/recorder to the D VD CO AXIAL DIGIT AL INPUT jack on this unit.
20 En Connec tions If your component supports optic al digital connections, conne ct the optical digital out put jack on your component (e.g., D VD player/recorder) to the A UX 1 OPTICAL DIGI T AL INPUT jack on this unit.
21 En Connections PREP ARA TION English For audio connection, connect the anal og audio output jacks on your TV to th e TV/STB A UDIO IN PUT jacks on this unit. If your TV has an optical digital o utput jack, connect the optical digital output jack on your TV to the TV/STB OPTICAL DIGIT AL INPUT jack on this unit.
22 En Connec tions Connect the analog audio outpu t jack on your portable audio player to the A UX 3 input jack on the front panel of this unit. 3.5 mm stereo mini plug cable Connect the monaural input jack on your subwoofer to th e SUBWOOFER OUT jack on this unit.
23 En Connections PREP ARA TION English Connect the supplied FM antenna to the FM ANTENNA jack on this unit. The IR IN jack does not support n ormal external component connection. This is a cont rol expansion terminal for commercial use onl y . Once all other connecti ons are complete, plug the AC po wer supply cable into the AC w all outlet.
GETTING ST ARTED 24 En 1 Press and hold the mark on the battery co ver and th en open the co ver . 2 Insert the two supplied batteries (AA, R6, UM-3) into the battery compartment. Make sure you insert the batteries according to the polarity markings (+/–).
Getting started 25 En SETUP English 1 Press ST ANDBY/ON to turn on the power of this unit. The v olume le vel ap pears in the front panel display , and the current input s ource and beam mode are displayed. 2 Press ST ANDBY/ON again to set this unit to the standby mode.
USING SET MENU 26 En This section describes how to display the OSD (on -screen display) of this unit on your TV screen and to set the parameters for your listening room. Once this is comple te, you can enjoy real surround sou nd while watching TV in the comfort of your o wn home.

CHANGING OSD LANGUAGE 28 En This feature allows you to select the language of your choice that ap pears in SET MENU of this unit. 1 Set the operation mode selector to YSP. 2 Press MENU. AUTO SETUP (INTELLIBEAM) 29 En SETUP English This unit creates a sound f ield by reflecting sound beams on the w alls of your listening room and by br oadening the cohesion of all the channels. Just as you would arrange the speaker p osition of ot her audio systems, you need to set the beam angle to enjoy the best possib le sound from this unit.
AUTO SETUP (IntelliBe am) 30 En The supplied IntelliBeam microphone collec ts and analyzes the sound that this unit produces in your actual listening en vironment.

AUTO SETUP (IntelliBe am) 32 En • Make sure that yo ur listening room is as qu iet as possible while this unit is performing the A UTO SETUP procedure. • T o achieve the best results possible, ev acuate yourself from your listening room until the A UTO SETUP procedure is completed so that you may not obstruct the path of sound beams.

USING THE SYSTEM MEMORY 36 En Y ou ca n sav e the current settings adjusted in SET MENU in the syste m memory of this unit. It i s handy to sa ve certain settings accord ing to the v arying conditions of your listening en vir onment.
Using the system memory 37 En SETUP English 5 Press / to select MEMOR Y1, MEMOR Y2, or MEMOR Y3 and press ENTER. The follo wing screen appears on your TV . 6 Press ENTER again. The ne w parameters are sav ed as MEMOR Y1, MEMOR Y2, or MEMOR Y3. Once th e parameters are sav ed, the display returns to the SET MENU screen.
Using the system memory 38 En 4 Press / to select LO AD and press ENTER. The following screen ap pears on your TV . 5 Press / to select MEMOR Y1, MEMOR Y2, or MEMOR Y3 and press ENTER. The following screen ap pears on your TV . 6 Press ENTER again. The new parameters sa ved as MEMOR Y1, MEMOR Y2, or MEMOR Y3 are loaded.
PLAYBACK 39 En BA S I C OPERA TION English Y ou can play back sound fro m the components connected to this unit simply by pressing INPUT on the front panel repeatedly or pressing one of the input selector buttons (TV/STB, D VD, A UX1, A UX2, A UX3, XM, or FM) on the remote control.
40 En Playback Press FM/XM to listening to FM (see “FM tuning” on page 42) or XM Satellite Radio (see “XM™ Satellite Radio tuning” on page 47). Press A UX1 (or A UX2) to play back a component connected to the A UX 1 (or A UX 2) jack on the rear panel of this un it.
41 En Playback BA S I C OPERA TION English Press V OLUME +/– to increa se or decrease the v olume level. The numeric v alue of the v olume lev el appears in the front panel display .
FM TUNING 42 En There are two tuning methods: automatic an d manual. Automatic tuning is effecti ve when the ra dio signal is strong and there is no interference.
43 En FM tuning BA S I C OPERA TION English Automatic tuning is effect i ve when the radio station signals are strong and there is no interference. 1 Set the operation mode selector to TV/A V. 2 Press FM/XM repeatedly to select FM as the input source.
44 En FM tuning 3 Press SEARCH repeatedly until the A UT O indicator disappears fr om the front panel displa y . If a colon (:) appears in the front panel display , tuning is not a vailable. Pre ss PRESET/TUNE to turn the colon (:) off . 4 Press ENTR Y ( / ) to tune into the desired station manually .
45 En FM tuning BA S I C OPERA TION English Y ou can also store up to 40 stations (A1 to E8: 5 preset station groups with 8 pres et station numbers each) manually . 1 Set the operation mode selector to TV/A V. 2 T une into the desired FM station. See page 43 for tuning instructions.

XM™ SATELLITE RADIO TUNING 47 En BA S I C OPERA TION English ■ About XM Satellite Radio XM Satellite Radio of fers an extraordin ary v a riety of commercial-fre e music, plus the best in sports, news, talk, and entertainment. XM is br oadcast in superior digital audio from co ast to coast.
48 En XM™ Satellite Radio tuning Once you ha ve installed XM Mini-T uner Home Dock, inserted XM Mini-T uner, conne cted Home Dock to your XM READ Y home audio system, and installed the antenna, you are ready to subscribe and begin recei ving XM programming.

PLAYING BACK SOUND CLEARLY (MY BEAM) 63 En BA S I C OPERA TION English Y ou can improve listenability in a noisy en vironment by changing the beam mode to My Beam, which outputs sound beams directly tow ard the liste ning position in a single channel.
64 En Playing back sound clearly (My Beam) Y ou can adjust the beam a ngle manually while playing back an input source . This function is also ideal if the listening position is out of th e operation guarantee range of the auto-adjust function. 1 Set the operation mode selector to YSP.
USING SOUND FIELD PROGRAMS 65 En BA S I C OPERA TION English This unit is equipped with a variety of precise digital de coders that allo w you to enjoy multi-channel playback from stereo or multi-channel sources.
66 En Using sound field prog rams Y ou can select from three dif ferent CINEMA DSP programs (MUSIC, MO VIE, and SPOR TS) depending on the type of source you want to enjoy . The CINEMA DSP indicator lights up in the front panel display when one of the CINEMA DSP programs is selected.

USING T HE SLEEP TIMER 70 En Use this feature to automatic ally set this unit to the standby mode after a specif ied period of time. The sleep time r is useful if you are going to sleep after a certain amount of time while th is unit is still playing back a source.
