14 St ep 1: Choos e a Location f or Y our R adio When inst alling the onyX in y our vehicle , choose a location wher e it will not block your vision, int erfer e with the contr ols, or obs truct the air bag.

16 V ehicle Inst allation St ep 2: Inst all the Dash or V ent Mount Depending on your sit uation, you can either choo se to us e the Dash Mount or the V en t Mount. IMPORT ANT! When you ins tall the chosen mount , do not attach the dock t o the mount.
17 3 The dock mounting plat e can be tilt ed in differ ent dir ections. Adjust as nec essary f or your p articular vehicle. W hen the orientation is c orrect, tigh ten the knob. 4 Clean the surf ace with the alcohol pr epar ation pad and let it dry thor oughly .
18 V ehicle Inst allation Installing the Vent Mount: 1 Loc ate a v ent with horizont al louver s stur dy enough to hold y our Po wer Connect V ehicle Dock and radio . 2 If the vent louv ers in y our vehicle are r ece ssed, y ou may need to us e the longer vent clamps with the V ent Mount.

20 St ep 3: Mount the Magnetic Mount An tenna The Magnetic Mount An tenna cont ains a str ong magnet which will stick to an y metal part o f your v ehicle, but will not damage the v ehicle. To i nst al l th e M ag ne ti c M ou nt A nte nn a: 1 Choose the bes t location f or your ant enna considering your v ehicle type .
21 SUV : W e rec ommend mounting the antenna at the r ear of the r oof as shown. Con vertible: W e rec ommend mounting the antenna at the le ading edge of the trunk as sho wn. Pickup T ruck: W e rec ommend mounting the antenna jus t above the front windshield as sho wn.
22 TIP! Mount the antenna on the roo f (for mo st vehicles ) or trunk (f or con vertibles ) where it has a clear view o f the sky in all directions . 3 Place the ant enna in the location y ou selected. F ollow the T ips and Cautions sho wn on the next se ver al pages .
23 CA UTION! Don’t mount the ant enna inside the vehicle , for e xample , on the dashboard. CA UTION! Don’t mount the ant enna on any of the vehicle ’ s front , back or side pillars.

25 St ep 4: R out e the Magnetic Mount Ant enna Cable Bef ore y ou begin routing the ant enna cable , read the se gener al instructions for ho w to r oute and hide the ant enna cable . Then r oute y our antenna cable acc ording t o the instructions which follo w for y our specific type o f vehicle .
26 Route cable out from under rear windshield moulding and tuck into weatherstripping around trunk opening Pull weatherstripping from trunk opening Tuck cable into weatherstripping.
27 Bring cable out of weatherstripping and into trunk Route cable along trunk wall and into cabin through gap or conduit, along existing wiring harness Route cable along trunk wall and into cabin.
28 Use a blunt plastic putty knife or similar blunt tool to lift edge of interior trim and tuck cable under trim. Continue towards front of vehicle Route cable from trunk under interior trim, into cab.
29 TIP! Alwa ys be car eful to include enough slack in y our cable t o accommodat e open doors or trunk lids. Us e things typically f ound around the home, lik e electrical tape , to sec ure cable s in areas so that hinge s do not pinch the cable with the door .

44 5 Y ou’ll fir st need to find an a vailable FM channel. An a vailable FM channel is one that’ s not being used b y an FM r adio station in y our are a. When y ou tune your FM r adio t o an available channel, y ou should only hear st atic or silence – not talk or music.

58 Using Y our on yX F av orite Channels Y ou can s et up to 10 o f your f av orite channels so y ou can easily ac ces s them. Each f avorit e channel can be assigned t o a number butt on. To assign a favorite channel to a number button: 1 T une to the desir ed channel.
59 Scanning Channels in a C ategory Y ou can s can a cat egory and list en to each channel f or 10 seconds bef ore the next channel is aut omatically tuned. If y ou w ant to s tay tuned t o the channel being play ed and stop the s can, just pr ess the Select but ton .

64 Special F eatur es Color T hemes Y ou can change the c olor of the display s creen t o one of 6 color theme s: Blue, Red, Amber , Y ellow , Silver , or T eal. Y ou can c oordinat e the color theme with y our vehicle dash lights and with the T rim Ring of your choice f or y our onyX.
65 T rim Rings Y our on yX has a changeable T rim Ring to st yle the radio t o your liking. T he T rim Ring surrounds the Select but ton on the r adio. A t otal o f three trim rings are included with y our onyX , including the one that is already ins talled in the onyX R adio.
66 Special F eatur es turn the tool. 1 Place the T rim Ring R emov al T ool on the T rim Ring on the radio . Use car e to align the t ool so it’ s c enter ed on the T rim Ring.
67 Special F eatur es tool c ounter-clock wise until it will not r otat e any further . 3 The T rim Ring is now loo se. T urn the onyX over and the T rim Ring should f all out. If it does not, gently t ap the back of the r adio until it does. 4 T urn the radio f ac e up again and insert the new T rim Ring into the r adio.

94 Demo Mode Y our on yX has a demo mode that starts playing when, f or a prolonged period of time (mor e than 5 minutes ), the radio either de tects it’ s not connected t o the antenna, or the ant enna stops r eceiving a signal. It disappear s when the antenna is connect ed properly or when the r adio starts rec eiving a signal.
