19 Connection English Connecting a D VI-D sourc e dev ice The project or provides a DVI-D input socket that allows you to c onnect it to a DVI-D sour ce device like a DVD play er . DVI- D format is us ed to dir ectly carry a digital signal to a dig ital display without signal conv ersion.
20 Connection English Connecting a Component V ideo source dev ice Examine your V ideo source device to dete rmine if it has a set of unused Component V ideo output sockets available: • If so , you can con tinue with this procedure. • If not, you will need to reassess which method you can use t o connect to the device.
21 Connection English Connecting an S-Video or a composite V ideo source device Examine your V ideo source device to det ermine if it has an unused S-Vi deo or Video output sock et available: • If it has both sock ets, use the S-V i deo output socket for connection as the S-V ideo terminal provides better picture quality than the V ideo terminal.
22 Operation English Operation Star ting up the projecto r 1. Plug the po wer cord int o the pr ojector and into a wall sock et. T urn on t he wall socket switch (where fitted). Please use the original accessorie s (e.g. power cable) only with the device to avoid possib le dangers such as electric shock and fire.
23 Operation English U sing the On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menus The projector is equipped with On-Screen Displa y (O SD) menus for making various adjustment s and settings. Below is the ov er view of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD men us, please set the OSD menu to your familiar language first.

29 Operation English Selectin g the as pect ratio The 'aspect ratio' is the r atio of the image width to th e image height. Most analog TV and computers ar e in 4:3 ratio, and digital TV and DVDs are usually in 16:9 ratio .
30 Operation English Optimizing the i mage Us i n g W a l l C o l o r In the situation where y ou are projectin g onto a colored surface suc h as a painted wall which may not be whit e, the W all Color feature can help correct the project ed picture’ s color to prev ent possible color differe nce between the source and projected pictures.
31 Operation English Setting the User 1/User 2 mode There ar e two user-d efinable modes if the current availabl e picture modes are not suitab le for your need. Y ou can use one of the pictur e modes (ex cept the User 1/2 ) as a start ing point and customize the settings.
32 Operation English Ad justing Brilliant Color Hi ghligh t Brilliant Color in the PICTURE menu and select by pressing / on the projector or remote contro l. This feature utilizes a new color -proc essin g algorit hm and sy stem level en hancements to enabl e hig her br ight ness while providing truer , more vibr ant colors in picture.
33 Operation English Please refer t o the illustra tion to the right for how the colors rela te to each oth er . For e xample, if you select R ed and set its range at 0, onl y pure red in the pr ojected picture will be selected. Incr easing its range will include red close to y ellow and red close to magenta.
34 Operation English 6. Pr ess to highlight Timer Audible Reminder and decide if you want to activat e the sound reminder by pr essing / . If y ou select On , a double beep sound will be heard at the last 30 seconds of c ounting down/up, and a triple beep sound will be generated when the timer is up.
35 Operation English Hid in g t he im ag e In order to dr aw the audience's full attention to the pr esenter , you can use BLANK o n th e pr oj e c to r or re m ot e c o nt ro l to h id e t he s cr e en i ma g e. The wor d ' BLANK ' appears in the c orner of the screen while the image is hidden.
36 Operation English Locking control k eys W ith the control k eys on the projector locked, y ou ca n prevent your pr ojector setting s from being changed accidentally (by children, for e xample). When the Panel Key Lock is on, no control k eys on the projector will opera te except PO WER .
37 Operation English Ad j u s t i n g t h e s o un d The sound adjustments made as below will hav e an effect on the projector speakers. Be sur e you hav e made a correct co nnection to the projector audio input. See "C onnection" on page 16 for ho w the audio input is connec ted.

Some function s are a vailable only when certain input signals are in use. The menu items are a vailable when the projector detects at least one valid signal.

44 Maintenance English M aintenanc e Care of the pr ojector Y o ur project or needs little maintenanc e. The only thing you n eed t o do on a r egular basis is to keep the lens cl ean. Nev er remov e any parts of the pr ojector exc ept the lamp. C ontact your dealer if other parts need replacing.
45 Maintenance English Extending lamp life The projection lamp is a co nsumable. T o keep the lamp li fe as long as possible, you can d o the following settings via the OSD menus. • Setting Lamp Mode a s Economic U sing Economic mode reduces system noise and power consumpt ion.
46 Maintenance English Re p l a c i n g th e la m p • T o reduce the risk of electrical shock, always turn the projecto r off and disconnect the power cord before changing the l amp. • T o reduce the risk of severe burns, allow the projector to co ol for at least 45 minutes befo re replacing the lamp.

As sho wn in the figure, hold the new lamp and align the two locators on the lamp with the holes on the projector , and then insert the lamp all the way into the pr ojec tor . 7. Tighten the scr ew that secures the lamp. Loose screw may cause a bad con nection, which could result in malfunction.
