Familiarizing Y ourself with the Pen 3 Familiarizing Yourself w ith th e Pen The scanning device (‘Pen’) contai ns the following parts: • Pen Tip with o ptical scanning head • Protective cover.
W izCom InfoScan™ 1.00 User Guide 4 • PC link connector (for connecting the plug of the USB cable used for Pen-PC Comm unicatio ns). The Pen Butto ns (key pad) The k ey pad contains seven buttons for operating y our Pen: • The Power button is used to turn the Pen o n and off.
Familiarizing Y ourself with the Pen 5 Scanning Scanning means to roll the Pen o ver printed text. W hen scanning, the o ptical head of the Pen scans the surface and creates a bitmap copy of the scanned text. In all appl ications the image is processed resulting in the actual letters by us in g OCR (Optical Character Recognition).

This is the angle y ou should preserve whe never scanning, even without the trai ner. 3. The text should be positioned at the center of the opening of the trainer.

The set up procedure on the CD-ROM will i nstall the USB driver, install the WizCom Info Sca n Desktop application and establish the Pen-PC com munications.
